Honeymoon Review: The Hari, Belgravia

Why go?

For couples craving a city-side love affair after the confetti has settled, The Hari is Belgravia’s chicest hideaway, a boutique bolthole where sleek interiors meet the energy of London’s most fashionable neighbourhood. Intimate, artful and perfectly placed, it is the kind of place that turns a weekend in the city into a honeymoon chapter of its own.

Honeymoon style

For fashion-forward couples and boutique hunters who would rather swap barefoot beaches for Belgravia style, The Hari offers a romantic city break on their doorstep. It is also the perfect base for couples tying the knot at nearby Chelsea Town Hall, with the neighbourhood’s most photogenic corners just steps away.

Set the scene

Tucked discreetly behind a leafy Belgravia street, The Hari feels more like a private townhouse than a hotel. As you step through its glass doors, a gentle hum of conversation mingles with the scent of espresso and polished wood. Interiors are warm and quietly glamorous, with deep velvet armchairs, marble fireplaces and a rotating collection of contemporary art that nods to London’s creative pulse. The library-style lounge is all soft lighting and stacked bookshelves, the kind of spot where guests linger over negronis until well past midnight.

Upstairs, a glass-walled terrace garden is a hidden gem in the city, part living room and part greenhouse, that comes alive on summer evenings with clinking Champagne flutes and a golden glow spilling from inside. This is where the city’s well-heeled and well-travelled gather, a stylish crowd of locals, creatives and international guests who know their way around a good London address. There is an understated intimacy to it all, a sense that you have stumbled into an elegant private members’ club rather than a hotel, with staff who remember your name and the bartender who knows your order by the second round.

And outside, Belgravia works its charm. The hotel overlooks the manicured greenery of Chesham Place, a serene square lined with white stucco townhouses and whispering trees, giving this pocket of London a sense of calm and privacy that belies its central location.

Rooms

The rooms feel like they belong in a fashion editor’s townhouse: pared-back yet deeply comfortable, with walnut panelling, mid-century furniture and those generous, cloud-soft beds that make you linger longer in the morning. Floor-to-ceiling windows frame views of Chesham Place’s leafy square, drawing in natural light and a rare stillness in the heart of the city. Bathrooms are beautifully appointed, with marble finishes, walk-in rainfall showers and stocked with Jo Loves products that bring a subtle hit of luxury to your morning ritual. Thoughtful touches such as a curated minibar, coffee table books worth leafing through and in-room record players give the rooms a lived-in, residential feel.

For honeymooners, the Hari Suite is the one to book. Tucked on the top floor, it comes with a private balcony and views that sweep across Belgravia’s rooftops, the perfect spot to toast your first morning as newlyweds. It is this mix of privacy, design and romance that makes The Hari feel so much more than just a city hotel.

Food and drink

The beating heart of the hotel is il Pampero, a sultry Italian restaurant that hums with low-lit intimacy and the clink of wine glasses. Tables are dressed in crisp linen, the leather banquettes invite long, lazy lunches, and the menu is a love letter to regional Italy. Start with the cacio e pepe, a silky, pepper-flecked plate that Londoners cross town for, and follow with the veal Milanese, golden and comforting, paired with a bold Barolo. For a final flourish, the tiramisu arrives with just the right hit of bitterness and sweetness. The adjoining bar, lined with moody art and mirrored shelves, is where guests gather for negronis before dinner or a nightcap under the glow of copper lights. Order the signature Hari Martini, best sipped on the terrace garden as the city hums below.

The story

The Hari is the brainchild of Dr. Aron Harilela, whose family opened their first hotel in Hong Kong in the 1960s. This London outpost, opened in 2016, is their love letter to the city, a modern townhouse hotel that marries British charm with subtle Asian sensibilities. The focus is on warmth and understated glamour rather than pomp, creating a space that feels as personal as it is polished.

Family-Friendly

While children are warmly welcomed, The Hari is first and foremost an adult city escape, a place where couples can settle into their own world, whether over aperitivos in the bar or breakfast in bed with Belgravia rooftops as the backdrop. And should you wish to step beyond its townhouse calm, some of London’s most iconic sights are right on your doorstep. The Natural History Museum, the V&A and the Science Museum are all within a short stroll, while Harrods and Harvey Nichols beckon nearby for a little post-wedding shopping.

Eco-friendly

Sustainability at The Hari is more philosophy than performance, stitched into the fabric of the hotel rather than paraded. Water arrives in refillable glass bottles, seasonal ingredients are sourced from nearby producers and energy use is quietly monitored behind the scenes. Even the rooftop garden has purpose beyond its beauty, planted to draw in pollinators and bring a soft touch of green to this Belgravia corner.

Location

The location is part of the hotel’s charm, a heartbeat from Sloane Square and a short stroll from the boutiques of Pavilion Road and the King’s Road. The pastel-hued doors of Chelsea and the leafy streets of Belgravia make for the most photogenic wedding portraits, while the V&A, Saatchi Gallery and Hyde Park are all within walking distance. For couples marrying at Chelsea Town Hall, The Hari is just around the corner, close enough to walk there in heels.
