The Story So Far
Oscar and I first met about 15 years ago at my best friend’s 18th birthday party in Bristol. We didn’t talk much that night, but afterwards, we connected on Facebook and kept in touch through playful “pokes”—a flirty little interaction back then for those who remember! After four years at university, we both ended up in London and, by chance, ran into each other at a party in Islington. Fast forward eight years, and Oscar proposed during his birthday trip to Iceland, by the stunningly secluded lake Þingvallavatn, with the most beautiful cushion-cut diamond ring.
The Venue
Oscar always dreamed of getting married at his family home, in Oxfordshire. The stunning tree-lined avenue there seemed absolutely perfect for our ceremony. Since neither of us are particularly religious, we chose a humanist ceremony, which meant handling the legal part beforehand.
So, we had our civil ceremony at Chelsea Town Hall, followed by an intimate lunch in the private dining room at Fifty Cheyne, with beautiful views over the river.
The Fashion
For the big day, I wore custom designs by Emma Beaumont for both my main dress and my party dress. Emma was incredibly patient with my ever-changing ideas and back and forth trips up to Knutsford to her atelier and I’m so grateful for that. For the ceremony, I paired my dress with Manolo Blahnik Hangisi heels, and later switched to simple Aquazzura sandals for the party. Oscar looked so sharp in custom Ozwald Boateng.
The day after, we hosted a garden party where I wore a chic Magda Butrym mini dress with gold Gianvito Rossi sandals.
For our civil ceremony, I opted for another custom dress by Clover London—I’ll always be obsessed with that big bow! Oscar wore a tailored suit by J Siggers.
The Jewellery
I wanted to keep my jewellery pretty minimal, so I went with some stunning emerald cut drop diamond earrings from Heavenly London and a Cartier watch my parents gifted me for the big day.
The Bridal Party
I decided to skip the traditional bridesmaid look and wanted each of them to wear something that made them feel amazing. I gave them a budget and just one guideline: as long as it was pink and floor-length, I was happy! Some chose to buy their dresses, while others rented from By Rotation and Hurr. The groomsmen all wore dinner jackets and black ties from Moss Bros.
The Tablescape
Doggart and Squash sourced all of our tableware from Collart, and I left the entire design in the capable hands of Molly, who did an incredible job.
Our stationery was a special collaboration between WithLoveInvitations and my grandparents. My Marmar (85) hand-drew the table names, each one inspired by cities or countries Oscar and I had visited throughout our relationship. My Grandpa (95) sketched a beautiful illustration of Britwell House (Oscar’s family home) for the order of service. These personal touches are something I’ll cherish forever.
Food & Drinks
Since Oscar and I are both vegetarians, we opted for an all-vegetarian menu from Doggart and Squash, which was absolutely delicious. For after-dinner drinks, we served a variety of cocktails, with the standout being the Spicy Margaritas, which were a huge hit with our guests. Special thanks to Molly from Doggart for sourcing the ingredients at the last minute—they went down a real treat!
Entertainment
The highlight of our wedding, without a doubt, was the band—The White Keys. They were simply incredible. We had a 14-piece ensemble, and they brought the house (marquee) down with their famous Ibiza set to end the night! It was such an unforgettable, high-energy moment that had everyone on their feet.
A personal touch made it even more special: one of the violinists from the band, Colette, was a friend from school. We asked her to play ahead of the ceremony and accompany me down the aisle to Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man—an emotional, tear-jerking moment that made the day even more memorable.
Beauty Regime & Wellness
Saskia did my makeup, and Martin Crean styled my hair—I had them both in mind long before I even got engaged. I absolutely love Saskia’s makeup style, especially her focus on glowing, radiant skin. A series of facials with Rhianne Truman and skincare products from Dr. Nora really helped as well, and I couldn’t have been happier with how my skin looked on the big day.
Favourite Wedding Gifts
We used TheWeddingShop.com for our gift registry, who offer a wide range of brands and allow you to fully customize your list, including options for cash gifts and charity donations. We loved that guests could contribute towards something special for our honeymoon, which felt really meaningful.
The Honeymoon
We decided to go on honeymoon right after the wedding weekend, and headed to the stunning Dominican Republic, followed by Turks and Caicos. We stayed at the Aman hotels—Amanera and Amanyara—and both were absolute paradise.
Advice
I highly recommend getting a project manager or planner for the day. Molly from Doggart was an absolute lifesaver—she made sure everything ran seamlessly. We gave her all the supplier details two weeks beforehand, and she took care of all the logistics, making sure everything was perfect, right down to ensuring we always had a drink in hand!
If budget permits, definitely hire a videographer. You’ll be surprised how often you’ll want to rewatch the footage, especially the speeches—they’re priceless.
Since Oscar is Swedish, we embraced a Swedish tradition where guests can give impromptu speeches. Before the reception, they’d simply ask the Master of Ceremonies if they could speak. It breaks away from formalities and makes the evening much more interactive and fun for everyone!
