From a chance meeting at work to a hideaway proposal in Wales, step inside Cassie Capuozzo and Luke Dodd’s fashion-forward London wedding across two iconic venues.

The story so far

Luke and I met at work – as cliché as it is, it was love at first sight. We had a trip planned to Lake Como for Luke’s birthday two years ago where, unknown to me, he was going to propose. When we got to the airport the whole holiday was cancelled due to a signal failure, so at the last minute we booked a gorgeous hideaway in Wales, where Luke finally popped the question. I’d talked to him about my dream ring every day since we met, and he followed the brief – now I’m lucky enough to have a 3ct oval on my left hand.

The venue

As an event planner, throwing parties and celebrations is my thing, and the venue is everything. Luke and I wanted a wedding that had all the emotional elements but followed a different structure – a more modern take, something unlike the weddings we’d been to. Fitzrovia Chapel was the only option for our ceremony. The listed building is iconic to central London for its history and its continued use today; it has that wow factor but is also romantic and intimate. For our reception and into the night we wanted sexy and fun, which is everything the Pavilion Club in Knightsbridge is. The open-plan roof terrace gave us the perfect balance: a sexy London bar with the most beautiful views over Hyde Park.

Fashion

Working in fashion, my wedding was the equivalent of the Met Gala for me. I was always going to be a Vivienne Westwood bride – the label’s bridal designs are timeless and elegant, and I couldn’t picture any other designer for the day. The Nova Cocotte was the first dress I tried on, and after 26 more, nothing compared. The team at the Davies Street store were incredible and made my bridal journey that bit more special. Shoes were just as easy, as the Jimmy Choo Skye 70s had been on my wishlist for years.

Our dress code was black tie, with all the women in black to keep the pictures uniform and aligned with the wedding aesthetic. It was important that Luke’s suit stood out against the sea of black tuxedos, so he had a custom white jacket, finished with a Dior bow tie I gave him as a wedding gift.

Jewellery

I was very fortunate to have my jewellery gifted and loaned to me by people in the industry. Dovehouse London loaned the most incredible diamond tennis necklace from The Vault – the talk of the day.

The wedding party

My bridesmaids were such an important part of my day. They’re the people who loved me before Luke did and watched me grow up. I didn’t really follow the “something borrowed” tradition, but from the moment I asked them, I knew I wanted them to be my “something blue”. The girls all wore icy-blue satin dresses from Meshki, and my best man had a tuxedo to match the groomsmen.

Transport

I’ve never been a fan of big vans or buses for weddings, so I pre-booked a dozen (or more!) Addison Lees to take our guests from Fitzrovia Chapel to Pavilion.

Tablescape

This is where I spent all my time. Working in events, I spent months pulling together the branded touchpoints of our day – creating our custom wedding logo, hand-sticking 50 decals onto 50 side plates to use as name cards, working with a supplier on branded sweet treats and custom matchboxes. Every single touchpoint mattered to me. SAGE Florals created the most amazing tablescape – and my bridal bouquet, which I’ll never get over – with fluffy white roses that complemented our branded menus, embroidered napkins and bespoke name cards.

Food & drink

The food and drink at the Pavilion Club was incredible, and unlike any typical wedding food. Their steak tagliata was a fan favourite with our guests. The dirty martinis are something I still dream about, and serving Whispering Angel exclusively as our wedding wine was the extra touch we didn’t know we needed. A special shout-out to the event manager, Emma, who was incredible to work with and executed my dream day – I owe her my life.

With thanks
