Alex works in digital marketing at a startup and Rupert runs an exterior and interior landscaping company. They met on a Thursday night in September 2015 at none other than Embargo Republica and tied the knot in Sussex on August the 28th of September, 2021 for a floral filled, garden party, with serious style credentials.
The best part of our day was…
Aside from when we saw each other at the altar, we had a moment together at the drinks reception watching all of our favourite people in one place looking so happy – that was really special!
We choose to get married at…
Wonersh church which is in the village next to Alex’s parents’ house, followed by a marquee in their garden for the reception. This was something that Alex had always dreamed of, having lived there since she was 8 years old and it being a very special place for both of us.
I knew I found ‘The One’ when…
I just couldn’t stop thinking about it! I only went to 3 dress shops as I didn’t have much time to make a final decision from when the shops re-opened in April. I eventually narrowed it down to 2 favourites from 2 different shops, but I knew the Jesus Peiro dress was the one when, firstly I saw my mum & sisters faces as I tried on a veil to complete the look and secondly, I couldn’t stop thinking about it and looking at photos of it.
The most enjoyable moments of planning were…
We genuinely loved the whole process, but the afternoon that we spent food & cocktail tasting with both of our parents definitely has to be up there!
The hardest part of planning was…
Not knowing until about 2 months before how much we could or couldn’t do, due to Covid restrictions. We had to stay totally open-minded and be fully prepared to postpone it, as we both agreed that we really wanted the big party with all our favourite people!

The best person to follow on Pinterest for bridal inspo is…
I didn’t really follow one person on Pinterest for inspo, but I did hear of a few – Katrina Otter Weddings, Storyboard Wedding & Style Me Pretty.
My top three tips for any couple would be…
- Book the church/venue, caterers, music & photographer/videographer as early as possible and all the other parts tend to fall into place after that.
- Don’t stress about the small details. As much as they help make a wedding personal, people will not realise if something has been missed.
- Enjoy every minute (including the lead up). Really do make sure you spend some time taking it all in, as it just absolutely flies by!
If I was able to do it all over again, the one thing I would change is…
In all honestly, it was exactly as we had hoped & imagined – we feel very lucky!
