Finding the venue, buying the dress, deciding on hair and make up, booking the photographer are undoubtedly the most time consuming tasks for any bride to be’s wedding planning checklist. In amongst all of that, a pre wedding skincare routine can easily slip through the cracks, but nailing your skincare routine in the lead up to your wedding is crucial to ensuring you have that sought after bridal glow for your walk down the aisle.
We also know that finding treatments, products and a routine that work for you is unique for every bride. The challenge of striving to reap the benefits of your products and treatments whilst ensuring that no last minute reactions and flare ups ruin your big day can be stressful for any bride to be.
The Wedding Edition partnered with 111 Skin to get the expert insights on how to navigate pre wedding skin prep. Three of our TWE editors trialled 111 skin treatments and products with impressive results that are *guaranteed* to give you glowing wedding day skin.
But don’t just take our word for it, here’s what our editors had to say…
TWE’s Beauty Director, Bandi Manzini
Our Beauty Director, Bandi trialled 111 Skin’s signature treatment-The Original Dramatic Healing facial, which was created specifically to accelerate skin repair following medical procedures. Perfect for remedying temperamental, tired and inflamed skin, and everything in between, this treatment truly is a universal elixir.
The treatment uses the very best from the 111 Skin range: a highlight of which was the Exfolactic cleanser which has a unique formulation containing lactic and tartaric acid to gently eat away at dead skin, whilst simultaneously soothing and calming the skin with rosemary . No dreaded “sting” that often comes with the exfoliation part of many facials. I loved this product because it also doubles up as an exfoliant if left on dry skin for 5 minutes- perfect for a time poor, frazzled bride to be. My knackered skin was fed juicy antioxidants using 111 Skin’s Anti Oxidant Energising Essence, and dark under eyes are banished using The Space Defence Eye Lift Gel and the therapist’s eye massage wand. My skin’s barrier was strengthened using 111 Skin’s hero product The Theorem repair serum and the treatment had a perky finish with the grand finale application of the gloriously nourishing Rose gold sheet mask which contains 24k gold (yes, really). I was sent off on my merry way with a light lathering of the Celestial Black Diamond day cream, that left me gleaming like a new penny.
TWE’s Contributing Beauty Editor, Yasmin Salmon
Yasmin Salmon, TWE’s Contributing Beauty Editor and professional MUA shares her favourite products from 111 skin and top tips on how she preps skin on the big day.
Skin prep is the key to having long-lasting make up for your wedding day. The last thing you want is creasing or flaking skin throughout the day. I usually start with the exfolactic cleanser from 111skin to remove dead skin cells and impurities. The next step is to neutralise the skin’s texture and create a shine-free complexion using the Hydrolat Anti blemish tonic. A 15 min application of Celestial black diamond eye mask; one of 111Skin’s most sought after products gets rid of dark circles and puffiness around the eyes. Making you look more youthful and awake. To finish off the skin prep I apply the celestial Black diamond day cream light which smooths the skin and gives a radiant glow.
My my favourite product from the 111 skin collection is the anti-blemish bio cellulase face mask. This was a life saver during the pandemic, when having to wear a Covid mask for a long period of time caused me to develop dreaded “maskne” caused by the bacteria getting trapped inside my mask. A handy trick I found for long haul flight skin maintenance was was to apply the bottom sheet of the Bio cellulase facemask over my cheeks, chin and jaw and then placing my Covid mask over the top to keep bacteria at bay and guarantee glowing skin upon landing.
TWE’s Lifestyle Editor, Alexandra Dudley
Last but not least, Alexandra Dudley, TWE’s Lifestyle Editor and bride- to- be got candid about the highs and lows of her bridal skin care prep journey and gave us the scoop on which 111 skin treatment she swears by for a guaranteed bridal glow…
Acne was never something I struggled with until (as luck would have it) I hit my thirties. Although incredibly common especially in women, adult acne can be incredibly frustrating and often painful both physically and mentally. My self confidence dropped hugely and I was nervous about my complexion in the run up to my wedding. I stripped my skin care regime right back and gradually added in the products that my skin really needed under the guidance of skincare professionals.
A plus side of getting married is that it’s a wonderful excuse to really put some time into self care. My skincare regime became something I really make time for. I use a simple cleanser in the morning followed by the 111skin exfoliactic cleanser (which I love) , then I use their hyaluronic acid and vitamin c before applying spf. Every other evening I’ve been trying to use a sheet mask. The anti blemish one has worked wonders on my skin. It’s formulated to target specific acne traits of your upper and lower face.. I’m also a big fan of the sub zero mask and eye masks especially ahead of an event or evening out. I’ve made sure to stock up on them for my wedding day.
For the first time in my life I’ve been having regular facials too, and upping the ante on my skincare has given me the confidence to go barefaced or with just a little make up.
I love the bespoke facial and have really clicked with the y theorem range but for brides to be who are perhaps very close to their wedding or nervous about upsetting their skin care regime I can’t recommend the cryo facial enough. It’s the first 111skin facial I had and I’ve never stopped going back.
It’s less aggressive than many facials and is one of the only facials where you can truly walk straight out the door and look your absolute best without the need for downtime. If you’re looking for a facial to take you straight down the aisle the 111skin cryo facial is the one.
