Your big day is finally here and you are moments away from walking down the aisle. You’ve just put your gorgeous white dress on when you notice a great big foundation stain on the collar! Don’t panic, we have you covered with our first aid bridal beauty kit.
We feature the essential beauty products and items every bride should carry with them on their wedding day just in case things don’t go exactly to plan. These products will ensure you are well prepared and protected so you can walk down the aisle feeling relaxed and looking your very best. As they say, it’s always better to be over prepared than under prepared.
How to prevent makeup stains on your dress
The best way to prevent makeup transferring onto your dress is by using an old satin scarf that you don’t mind getting dirty. Place the scarf gently over your face before putting on your dress. This will ensure that the scarf picks up any of the fall out instead of your dress. If you don’t happen to have a satin scarf nearby, I would also recommend using a large face tissue which can cover most of your face and neck.
Be ready for touch ups
If you feel like a few tears might be shed during the ceremony the best tool for touching up after, are pointed cotton buds. These types of buds will be the best for getting around the eyes, without smudging the rest of the makeup. I would recommend using them with a small amount of micellar water, my personal favourite is from Bioderma. Once the micellar water is on the bud, gently dab it on the area you want to clean.
Say goodbye to greasy foreheads!
The Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder by Charlotte Tilbury, is a must have in every brides beauty kit. It’s the closest you’ll get to a real-life Instagram filter. This powder is perfect for getting rid of any shine on the forehead, chin and cheeks and works its magic best when taking flash photography. Giving you the most naturally airbrushed look in every wedding photo.
Shine control
Another great tip for staying shine free is by using blotting paper. This quick fix is great before you take your first steps down the aisle. Leaving your skin shine free with the perfect matte finish. The Shiseido oil-control blotting paper (100 sheets) is fantastic and will ensure you stay shine free all day and night.
The single black tear
Although Lauren Conrad’s single black tear moment was totally Iconic on The Hills we want to avoid recreating that moment on our special day. My top tip for preventing mascara from running is by using a great waterproof mascara. My go-to is the Sweed Beauty Pro Lash Lift Mascara. Not only does it make your lashes look infinitely long but once the mascara is on, It’s not going anywhere.
Mirror, Mirror
It’s your day and you should feel like the fairest of them all. Carrying a travel size mirror with you will definitely come in handy. You’ll need to keep topping up your makeup from time to time. So, investing in a great mirror is key. I recommend the Fancii compact mirror with LED lights.
Keep those bags at bay
The bags under your eyes should only be Chanel! I always recommend carrying a concealer with you on your wedding day. We tend to rub our eyes a lot throughout the day without realising and the last thing you want is great big panda eyes in every wedding photo! I usually recommend the Hourglass Retouching Fluid. The product itself is very sheer but buildable and works well on top of other make up products. It also contains a slight sheen which reflects the light and makes your eyes appear a lot brighter and youthful.
When it comes to finding your shade of concealer. I always advise going for a concealer that is two shades lighter than your foundation. A little tip is to apply the Charlotte Tilbury Compact Powder on top of your concealer to lock in the concealer and prevent it from creasing under the eyes.
Smell good on the go
As the day goes on you may start to feel a bit sweaty. So it’s always a good idea to freshen up by keeping a deodorant close by. I recommend the Dove Invisible Dry roll-on deodorant as its streak free and last for up to 48 hours. I would also recommend purchasing the Pacifica Underarm Deodorant Wipes. They are perfect for a quick fix on the go and can be used all over the body as well.
Nip and Pluck
If you’re considering wearing lashes for your wedding day don’t forget to pack a pair of tweezers and some eyelash glue. After a long day, the glue form your lashes might start to weaken, so it’s always a good idea to pack these two items just in case. The Duo Glue Brush-On Adhesive, is a great option for quick fixes. It is also latex-free, making it safe for contact lens wearers. Tweezerman Slant Tweezers, are my all-time favourite, they literally travel everywhere with me. I’ve even used them to help with last minute dress alterations – they are more than just a one trick pony.
