We got married on a breezy, sunny August 12th in our hometown of Sunderland at the magical Dalton Old Pumphouse. The morning was calm and serene and everything just felt right. Seeing Danny at the end of the aisle with our favourite song being played by a string quartet, wearing the dress of my dreams, was the best moment; I don’t think any feelings will ever come close. The day was filled with so much love and after the most amazing food and speeches we partied into the night with a live band and DJs. It’s so true what people say when the say it’s the best day of your lives!
The Journey
The journey to finding my dream dress was relatively stress-free and plain sailing, although I think I tried on around 10-15 dresses at 4 different boutiques before I found what I was looking for! I was having a lot of fun trying them all on; with no pressure at all on myself to find one straight away.
The Vision
I had seen SO many pictures on social media of brides looking stunning and I liked such a wide variety of styles; I had no idea what would actually look good on me! So I had absolutely no vision of what I wanted at first, hence why I tried on so many.
I eventually tried on a dress which had a similar lace, long sleeved, classic vibe and I suddenly realised the vision that I wanted for the wedding as a whole; timeless and classic with the right amount of drama! I did some more digging and found Mirror Mirror and when I tried my dress with the intention to modify the top half, I burst into tears- I knew it was the one! The team at Mirror Mirror was so fabulous from start to finish, they made the experience so special!
The Decision
I’m quite a headstrong person so when I’d realised my vision, I knew I wouldn’t be taking too much advice from anyone else. The only person who’s opinion I really wanted was Danny’s! Obviously I couldn’t have that so I went with my gut.
The Evening Look
I did change into a white backless mini dress for the evening- after cake cut, bouquet throw and first dance; I wanted to really let loose and and my precious dress needed to be preserved from any ruin!
The Accessories
The veil was a no brainer- the dress wouldn’t have been complete without it! My shoes were super simple sling backs from Zara and I wore Chanel pearls to finish off the look.
The Second Day Outfit
Rather than a second day, we celebrated with travelling friends and family the night before the wedding; I chose to be playful and wear a blue crinkled, backless Ganni dress for the occasion.
Advice For Brides
My biggest piece of advice to brides looking for their dream dress is don’t put pressure on yourself, leave plenty of time to start looking and trying on, and keep an open mind; try every single style- you might surprise yourself!
Favourite Photo Of The Dress
This is one of my favourite photos in my dress; I think it showcases beautifully the whole vision as well as the stunning details of the dress itself. Our photographer was Kate Borrill & videographer A Little Less Salt Weddings; they captured everything so perfectly.
