London’s stylish set descended on The Dorchester this week to catch a glimpse of the highly-anticipated Christian Louboutin Wedding Collection. Not one stiletto or Laduree Macaron was left unturned during this sneaky peaky penthouse party in the resplendent Oliver Messel Suite.
The spring sunshine animated an already elegant room of hand-painted panelled doors, heavy Chintz curtains and opulent fireplaces decked in flowers, where guests mingled and ogled at Louboutin’s new Wedding Collection – from handsome brogues to seriously pretty stilettos.
The siren call of the red sole naturally lured in a glamorous bunch – the likes of fashion designer Annie Doble, singer Bambi Baines, TV presenter Zeena Shah, model Phoebe Torrance, socialite Sabrina Percy, and some seriously gorgeous engaged girls and guys like Anisa Sojka, Josie Fear, Alex Brennan, Francesca Newman-Young, India Selmi and Alexandra Dudley. A glass of Moet or Mirabeau in hand, they filed through the shoes – could it be the bows? The sparkly buckle? Oh, maybe the blue???
The new collection promises everything: from pretty ballet-like pointed pumps to feminine satin ties behind stilettos and hand-pleated chiffon and tulle, while the groom’s collection delivered equal measures of comfort and style (few could muster the strength to walk past the new patent-black show-stoppers without picking them up). Far from overlooked, wedding guests could tuck into the candy-like pairs of shoes evoking all the lightness and spontaneity of British spring (while seeing for themselves how the perfect pair of Louboutins can take a wedding guest dress to the next level).
Neill Strain Floral Designs’ impressive floral display, beautifully echoed the spring-like shades of the new Christian Louboutin Wedding Collection, while adding a touch of Marie Antoinette opulence to an already splendid setting. Guests were filled with lashings of free-flowing Möet & Chandon out of crystal cut Wedgwood coups, magnums of Mirabeau Rose and pink Tame & Wild Lemonade.
Ladurée, clever as they are sugar sweet, conjured up Macarons inspired by Christian Louboutin’s latest collection, featuring an edible sketch by extraordinarily talented illustrator Hatty Pedder. Hatty’s pulled guests away from the shoes into the yellow-silk draped bedroom for a hot second (sketches they duly took home to frame in the downstairs loo) while the Christian Louboutin Beauty team were on hand for fabulous day-to-night touch ups.
This oh-so-refined house party’s heart thudded to the sweet sound of Scarlette Lapidus’s french disco beats against a whimsical backdrop that would have made Marie Antoinette blush. An unlikely contender for stealing the show? The Oliver Messel suite’s bathroom of course with its gold scalloped loo and bath filled to the brim with Champagne on ice and lovely ladies flashing that iconic red sole for the photo of the century.
