Our Editors’ All Time Favourite Weddings
Katie & Sarah
Katie and Sarah’s story started with a swipe as so many do these days. The story of their Yorkshire wedding began when Sarah decided to change her preferences to women to “give it a go”. Katie was looking to not jump into another relationship and just go on some dates and thought straight Sarah would be perfect for this. James and Alex met on Tinder. The story of their Greek Ampitheatre wedding began after three years together, when Alex knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Alex and decided to propose after the first lockdown in June 2020. Remy & Nathan
Remy and Nathan’s story started when they met in Sheffield in 2014 after Nathan graduated and Remy had moved back home after uni, and 3 months later they’d already said their “I love yous” and moved in together in London. 9 years, 6 flats, and a loyal canine companion later, city couple Remy and Nathan tied the knot in London. Eshita & James
Eshita & Jame’s story started when James proposed at Eshita’s favourite hotel The Connaught, after surprising her with a room booking after a martini. Patricia & Jimmy
Patricia and Jimmy met on Hinge and things moved relatively quickly. Within a year they had bought a house and a year later Jimmy popped the question. On New Years Eve at the end of 2020, they went on their favourite walk around the Chequers Estate. At the top of Beacon Hill Jimmy got down on one knee. Montana & Ryan
Montana and Ryan met in high school at their local town gym and have been inseparable ever since. They started dating April 15th, 2017 and Ryan proposed to Montana on April 15th, 2021. They drove to Jupiter, Florida to go shark diving (one of Montana’s biggest fears) so Ryan could show her he was with her through all of her fears. Zoe & David
Zoe and David met nearly 9 years ago and have been inseparable ever since. The story of our chateau wedding began in December 2021 when they were preparing to move out of their apartment, about to embark on a new chapter. One morning over brunch, they were talking about their future together, all of the things we were so excited for, and David got down on one knee and proposed. After that they went to Balthazar where they had had their first date some 6 years earlier to celebrate followed by an engagement moon to Rio De Janeiro. Urte & Danilo
Urte and Danilo met while studying at the same university in Aberdeen, Scotland during a Halloween party. They got engaged seven years later in June 2018, in Cancun, Mexico. Danilo’s proposal was one of the most romantic days of their lives. He took Urte on a helicopter ride towards Isla Mujeres and upon their return to our hotel, he proposed on the beach. The set up was amazing, there was a huge circle of lights in the sand where he kneeled down and asked the question with a Tiffany engagement ring. Pieter & Douglas
Pieter Jooste and Douglas Clarisse met online seven years ago, as every modern-day love story starts. They were both very busy traveling but stayed in touch and went to New York for their second date, a city they both love. The couple got engaged on their 6th anniversary of meeting, 29 Feb. It was during lockdown, and they had a posh meal delivered by a local cooking school; Doug casually asked if Pieter would marry him. It was unexpected and not something that was anticipated or discussed, so the initial reaction was shock, which eventually morphed into joy. Clare & Hamish
Clare Doggart is the owner of Doggart & Squash – a boutique caterer creating heavenly menus for events across the UK, and Hamish Malone works as a Sales Director at Morgan Lovell. The couple first met at Oxford Brookes and proposed in the dunes at Witterings, where Clare’s family is from. The wedding was a stunning spring wedding held in a spectacular marque in Petworth. Sangeeta & Joseph
Sangeeta Ravi-Shankar, 32, is a GP and Joseph Michael Norris, 33 is a Surgeon. The two met at work, as junior doctors. Sangeeta was Joseph’s senior and initially didn’t like him very much as she thought he was full of himself. As it turns out he is a lovely guy and was just having anxieties over his first job. The two spread the wedding celebrations over three different venues. With a smaller civil wedding at the Ritz, a larger ceremony at Painted Hall in the Old Royal Naval College and the Hindu wedding at Pennyhill Park. Alessandra & Adam
Alessandra Frame, founder of The Collectibles and contributing fashion editor at The Wedding Edition, married commodities trader Adam Frame in Italy in 2019 where the couple hosted three days of celebrations in breathtaking surroundings. The couple kicked off the festivities with welcome drinks on a rooftop overlooking the baroque city of Noto, and ended with a vibrant pool party where guests enjoyed recovery cocktails and Sicilian fare. Leah & Rory
Leah is an Investment Consultant and Rory is a Lawyer. The couple met at a wedding before going on a date a month later. They tied the knot in an intimate stylish wedding in London at the Lambeth Town Hall surrounded by family and plan to have a bigger ceremony in France in September. Henrietta & Ronan
Henrietta Rix is the Co-Founder & Brand Director of fashion label RIXO and her partner Ronan Keenan works in Property. Ronan was a childhood friend of Henrietta’s brothers, as well as her teenage crush! Henrietta remembers their first kiss at a local bar in Cheshire, then they fell out of touch when they both moved to London. Ronan reached out to Henrietta out of the blue and invited her on a date around 10 years after that first kiss, they went to the men’s finals at Wimbledon – She knew he was the one straight away. Sheena Bhattessa
Sheena Bhattessa is the Founder & CEO of Citizen Femme her husband works in the jewellery industry and real estate. The couple met at at a mutual friend’s drinks at The Charlotte Street Hotel (but he lives in the Caribbean). Riley & Alex
Riley Uggla is a British-Canadian designer and founder of Riley Studio, a luxury fashion brand driven by an ethos of environmental and social responsibility – creating contemporary clothing from waste. Riley met Alex Rimmer – her now British-Spanish husband – in a beach bar in Ibiza and the couple hit it off immediately. Ten years on, Alex proposed to Riley in Ibiza where they met for the first time, the couple now have two children together. Alexandra Dudley is a food writer, podcast host, and The Wedding Edition’s very own lifestyle editor. Freddie Hall is a director and producer working in scripted drama. They met when they were four and a half years old but didn’t become a couple until they were in their early twenties after an impromptu trip with friends to Sardinia where they kissed and never looked back. Tom & Abi
Tom Bates, 36, Director of Marketing and Communications at Nobu Hotel London Portman Square and Abi Bates, 33, Director of Harper, jewellers in Cobham, Surrey. They first met on Bumble and shortly met in real life for a bottle of red in a wine bar in Borough Market whilst Tom was living on Bermondsey Street. During the Covid pandemic, Tom managed to trick Abi into travelling to Venice under the guise of a work trip, and proposed at the water’s edge across from San Giorgio under dramatic moody skies. Chloe Wallace, Head of Marketing & Communications at the fitness brand ROWBOTS and Michael Summers who works in finance and Chloe met at a bar in London nearly 6 years ago. Chloe actually approached Mike first and after chatting all evening went on their first proper date 2 days later, and never looked back! Daniel Budden-Lamb (35) is the Global Head of Celebrity at 111SKIN and Jonny Budden-Lamb (31) is the Founder of Avenue Communications (PR Agency). They met in a store in Brighton in 2010, it was love at first sight (truly). Jonny proposed to Daniel on a beach in Mauritius during a holiday in November 2018. Monica & Alexander
Monica Marriott-Mills works as a Luxury Marketing Consultant and Alexander Brown is a Musician. The couple met on Tinder in 2014 and Alex proposed during lockdown on Monica’s 26th birthday in their Camden apartment. Alex had turned their living room into a little home restaurant with their favourite jazz music and candles – Monica had presumed it was her birthday dinner. He ordered her favourite meal of sushi from a local Japanese restaurant and when he came back from the kitchen with dessert, he got down on one knee. Charlotte Griffin (30) is a TV Producer and Tyler Griffin (30) a Forex Broker. The couple met 10 years ago on the dance floor in Cardiff where they both studied at university. Since the moment they met, they have pretty much been inseparable, through their university days, traveling, moving to London and now settled in Hertfordshire. Tyler proposed at their favourite place in Spain, on the beach watching the sunset and having a braii (South African BBQ). The couple tied the knot a spectacular wedding in Seville, Spain. Aimée Slaughter and Tobias Pritchard-Davies, live in London and met at work in 2015. The couple both work in property and share a love for food and wine.
