Occasions such as Valentine’s Day allow Creative Events Agency, Moriarty to elevate tradition, embrace new creative ideas and capture themes in a whole new light. With infinite amounts of imagination and a focus on detail, Moriarty have curated the perfect how-to guide for your ultimate Valentine’s celebration!
Setting the tone
The importance of Valentine’s Day has become so much more apparent in recent years, and we are here for it! From intimate dinners to your Galentine’s or Palentine’s squad, there are boundless possibilities.
When planning any dinner party, choosing the vibe is essential: are you a traditional romantic or looking to explore something out of the box? Create a mood board on Pinterest first to help hone the perfect inspiration for your evening.
Let’s add some colour!
With the overall tone set, establishing the colour palette is next. Moriarty recently created a Valentine’s dinner at the Beaverbrook Estate in which harmonious tones of red and pink were used to create a delightful setting, filled with charming little touches.
The combination of shades offered the perfect balance between classical romanticism with a woven thread of innovation throughout. When choosing colours to compliment your vision, opt for darker tones to create an atmospheric mood – perfect for an elegant setting – while brighter tones lend themselves to more of a fun and vibrant environment.
At the heart of the table
Florals and candles can really bring a tablescape to life, they tie in all the elements and are essentially the main focus points of most designs. At our recent Valentine’s dinner, we incorporated hints of tradition with a unique twist using roses transitioning in tones from deep red to hot pink. Choosing a single variety of flower, such as a rose, in a range of colours and tones is an interesting way to create effective floral arrangements. Alternatively, a statement can easily be created by pairing stems with foliage, adding layers to create an impressive overall look.
To continue to enhance this further, adding candles to the table not only offers the ambience of the flickering flame but also the opportunity to play with height and additional tones. We love scattering taper candles in two or three colours along a table, elevating the look further and blending all the table décor together. To increase the romance further, adding tealights and dimming the lights increases the intensity of the warm candle glow and creates a more intimate surrounding.
It’s getting personal
With an occasion dedicated to the celebration of love, adding personal touches throughout embraces the theme whilst offering guests a unique and memorable experience. Personally, we love hand-written escort cards and menus! If hosting at home, having napkins embroidered with more universal decorations of love allows them to be reused time and time again – adding table styling fun for years to come!
Beautifully wrapped gifts placed on the table can also be the perfect way to complete a tablescape with those nearest and dearest. Incorporating the colour theme within the wrapping offers the perfect photo opportunity and gives guests a unique takeaway.
Sealed with a bow
Bows are very much something we are behind for most tablescapes; however, they definitely offer the perfect addition for a Valentine’s styling. Whether it be velvet, tartan or satin, a bow placed on each place setting offers a quintessential finishing touch. Incorporating a complementary colour or alternating the colour scheme is also a great photo opportunity and adds a unique twist to your look. Why not take this one step further with embroidery?
Summary
Celebrating Valentine’s Day with a beautifully styled table, fabulous guest list and your favourite food will create an evening filled with everlasting memories. With so many extra touches made possible with this occasion from handmade menus, to love heart-inspired napkins, it’s the perfect time to elevate your design and celebrate romance in every form! Happy Valentine’s Day all!
