Building a wedding list can seem like a daunting task, where do you even begin? You may find yourself questioning; do we even want a gift list? Is it old fashioned or too much to ask of guests? Fear not, we felt all of these emotions and it is an undeniably spoiling experience but we found it to be such a special part of wedding planning, with gifts from The Wedding Present Company.
My now husband, Tom, and I decided that having lived together for nearly six years it was our once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to upgrade pots and pans, glassware and all things that otherwise we’d never get around to replacing. It’s also important to remember with wedding gifts, each item will be forever loved, used and brought out at dinner parties invoking all of those cherished memories.
We chose to register with The Wedding Present Company, who provide a boutique and bespoke service unlike any other. The process began with an appointment at the showroom on Lots Road in Chelsea, an Aladdin’s cave of gorgeousness tucked amongst the famous antique shops. There’s free-flowing Champagne and you’ll be guided by your own interiors-obsessed personal shopper who can start adding items to your list (and in our case, mediate between our different tastes!).
The Wedding Present Company stock all the big names and smaller artisan brands, their Instagram is brilliant for discovering unheard-of brands and the latest interior trends. They can source antique pieces and have great features such as “group gifting” for larger ticket items. You can also add different funds, such as an “art” or “honeymoon” fund. There’s flexibility to swap gifts along the way and you can book a slot for everything to be delivered in one go – this really is the most exciting delivery ever…
