Committed to social impact and working towards a more sustainable future, British designer Rachel Jackson creates symbolic jewellery designed to capture all of life’s beautiful moments; everyday treasure made to tell a story, now and in the future.
With a background in music, it’s no coincidence Rachel is a favourite amongst the music crowd and celebrities. These are classic styles with an edge for modern women seeking jewellery with meaning.
A Brand to Know – from humble beginnings on a market stall in Spitalfields, East London. Rachel Jackson is now sold in 70+ stores globally.
I love working in the jewellery industry because….
I LOVE jewellery! My love affair with jewellery started on a travelling trip around the world, I was collecting jewellery in every city I visited and being gifted jewellery by friends I met along the way. It was a way of documenting my journey… little pieces of treasure, time capsules that would forever tell a story and hold a place close to my heart. I want to pass this idea of treasuring everyday moments on to others. I think there’s no greater joy than the gift of jewellery.
Rachel Jackson is best known for…
Our birthstone Amulet pendant. It was the first piece of jewellery I ever made and was inspired by a glass locket filled with salt, gifted to me by a friend in Brazil. He gave it to me with a note saying ‘for love & protection wherever you go’. With the RJ version you can add up to 4 birthstones for loved ones and/or children and inscribe names and dates on the reverse. Famous faces who wear our Amulet include Lauren Laverne, Dawn O’Porter and Tamzin Outhwaite.
My biggest achievement to date is…
Making it into the jewellery hall at Liberty London, which has one of the best curations of jewellery in the world. I pinch myself every time I go in… I’m so grateful to be there amongst so many amazing designers.
The current wedding jewellery trends I’m loving are…
Changing out of your dress when you want to get down on the dance floor and switching to a show-stopping pair of statement hoops! I’m obsessed with our statement Electric Goddess hoops with London Blue Topaz stones.
My all time favourite engagement ring is…
My own! It’s a Zoe and Morgan engagement and wedding ring in one. The centre piece I re-worked into a hexagon shape – a nod to my love for geometry and the two outer rings, or ‘party jackets’ as I love to call them, are Art Deco in style.
The best gifts for bridesmaids, the groom and the bride are…
If I was a bridesmaid I’d love to be gifted something unique yet timeless, something with meaning that I can wear everyday after the wedding. Our hand-carved stone T-bars do just this, in either rose, white or powder blue. I’d gift a Bride one of our bestselling Electric Hearts, with her and her partner’s initials engraved on the reverse. For the Groom I would suggest cufflinks – engravable T-bar cufflinks coming soon!
The best accounts to follow on Instagram for wedding inspo are…
I love Temperley for the most exquisitely detailed dresses, Junebug for extraordinary locations and of course, The Wedding Edition for incredible insight and a wealth of experience from your editors and contributors.
My favourite place in the world to skip the crowds is…
Paraty in Brazil… a real discovery and a chilled, naturally beautiful part of the world.
The podcast I am listening to is…
Fearne Cotton, Happy Place. I just listened to the one with Steven Bartlett whose Diary of a CEO podcast I also love. Two very inspiring humans.
And finally, what’s next for Rachel Jackson?
A flagship store in London where you can come and create your own treasure.
