Lynn Anderson Clark is the co-founder and CEO of The Know. The Know is a purpose-driven media company on a mission to help you have a healthier relationship with the news.
We write a newsletter that informs our audience on issues that are relevant to them – from the top story of the day to more female-focused news. We make it super accessible by keeping it concise and jargon-free. Plus, we feature at least one positive news story everyday and feature ways to take actions when we can. This keeps people engaged with the news and combats apathy and anxiety around important subjects.

I love working in the news industry because…
I believe access to news that won’t ruin your mental health should be free and open to everyone. People are turning away from the news as it’s depressing and full of scaremongering. It doesn’t have to be that way.
The Know is best known for…
Telling the news with less anxiety. That means explaining complex issues in relatable terms, prioritising stories about women’s issues and mental health, and aways highlighting the good news.
Our biggest achievement to date is…
Probably when Kim Kardashian shared our explainer on Afghanistan! Or, campaigning for paid leave for pregnancy loss, and helping secure a debate in Westminster Hall on the topic. We’re still pushing for it, but the noise has made a big difference already.
We’re inspired by…
Campaigner victories on issues that truly matter, stories of progress and joy, and people who fight for a better future everyday, despite how hard it may be.
The nicest news story we’ve published lately was…
A decade after the proposals were first made, the EU is finally insisting that company boards are at least 40% women. They’ve also announced a 33% target for senior roles going to women. There’s a long way to go, but this is definitely a step forward.
Being a female founder means so much to me because…
I love helping and empowering other women!
My favourite place in the world to skip the crowds is…
Montana, USA. It’s about 50% bigger than the UK and only has 1 million people! It’s truly my happy place, somewhere I can reset and recharge.
My best advice for brides-to-be….
We got married on the coast in Puglia, Italy. About 5 minutes before I walked down the aisle, our planner said that we had to change the dinner set-up due to weather. I had no time to re-do seating charts so our planner had to do it quickly during cocktail hour. I was disappointed at first thinking of all the hard work we had put into making sure everyone had the “perfect” seat. Guess what? It didn’t matter. Everyone had a wonderful time, made new friends and it showed as the party continued until early in the morning. My advice – Everything will not go as expected. But, if you have the right partner and are surrounded by those you love, it will be brilliant! Relax and enjoy your special day.
And finally, what’s next for The Know …
We want to reach as many people as possible. 46% of Brits are turning away from the news, and we want to prove that there’s an alternative that doesn’t leave you feeling overwhelmed everyday. We will be doing IRL events, partnering with your favourite brands and making merch for our incredible readers. Watch this space.
