Trends I’m Loving Right Now With Holly Congdon, Lettice Events

To start, what wedding trends are you personally loving right now, and why are they resonating with you?

Dan and I are obsessed with food and spend all our time either talking about food, cooking food or at restaurants eating food. So, the chance to create our dream menu, was one of the things we couldn’t wait for. My favourite trend at the moment, is the resurgence of trad and nostalgic dishes and I couldn’t wait to bring this into our day. Guests will be seeing some home comforts reimagined, with our cheese & Guinness ketchup toasties for our reception, prawn cocktail, in glass coupes for staters and ice cream sandos for dessert. Food you want to eat is the trend that should stay forever!

When it comes to the look and feel of the day, how are you approaching your overall aesthetic or styling choices?

I have tried to put the day into four parts, each with their own aesthetic and treating them as their own little vignette. The day will start with a traditional white wedding, slowly moving through into more colour, finishing with a full colour drenched after party, with help from Draping Bliss. Your wedding is the perfect time to indulge all whims and I have loved doing that through the styling of the day.

Let’s talk fashion – what styles, silhouettes or designers are you gravitating towards for your wedding wardrobe?

I have always loved colour, so a white dress was always going to be a challenge for me. My favourite designers for inspiration have been Halfpenny, Vivienne Westwood and Rebecca Valance for fun afterparty moments.

Tablescaping has become such a moment in itself. What details are you focusing on to make your tables feel considered and special?

Tablescaping was genuinely more important to me than the dress! I love hosting at home and my mum and I spend months talking about our Christmas and Easter tables, so I knew this was going to be my favourite part. We are having a marquee wedding at home in the garden and it was important that we leant into the setting we were in. We are working with Lavender Green as our florist to help us bring the outside in. Luxe Collection are going to be doing the tableware and being able to use their incredible pieces will make it feel really special.

What wellness rituals are you incorporating in the lead-up to or on the wedding day (e.g. sound baths, yoga, IV drips, tarot readings…)?

I wish I was that bride but the reality is, I don’t have time! I think the best thing you can do in the lead up to a wedding is be kind to yourself and leave space to enjoy the moments that lead up to the day. I have been trying to incorporate more walking into my day to day and using the time to reflect on the madness that comes with a wedding!

What colour trends are you loving for weddings this year?

I don’t think there is any other colour than silver this year is there? Whether its silver canapé platters, chrome cakes or vintage heirlooms as part of the table décor. It has been so much fun working with our brides this year to bring their Pintrest visions to life.

How are you thinking about documenting your day – whether through social media, content creators, or a more unplugged/phone’s confiscated approach?

I know that the day is going to go by so quickly and I want to have as much content as I can after, so I can relive it all again! We are working with an amazing photographer, Emily Tyler, as well as Thomas Brown (Browns Films) for the videography. On the day we have a content creator we work with at Lettice Events, to capture the set up and details of the wedding prep and I hope my friends and family will be able to get their own photos to mark the little moments, we don’t get to see.

Guest experience is such a key part of a modern wedding – what are you doing to make the day memorable for everyone attending (e.g. immersive entertainment, interactive food moments, photo booths)?

Obviously running a catering company, food and drinks has to be a big focus for us. At Lettice, we are famous for our teeny-weeny cocktails and we are going to create some fun interactive bars. My dad has a beautiful greenhouse and that is being turned into a ‘Tomatini’ bar for the reception which I can’t wait for. ALR are going to be supplying our entertainment, so we know that they will make sure we have an amazing party.

Are there any traditions or trends you’re consciously rejecting?

We’re not consciously avoiding or rejecting anything, but instead we tried to look at the moments that were important to us throughout the day, to ensure we maximised these traditions. For me, having my dad walk me down the aisle is something I know I will treasure forever and I think the ceremony has become something Dan and I are really excited about.

Finally, what does being a 2026 bride mean to you?

I couldn’t have imagined how it would feel to plan my own wedding. Working in the industry, I had seen so many incredible couple’s visions come to life, that I really struggled to put my thoughts into one plan but the best part of being a 2026 bride is that you can do anything! It feels like there is nothing off the table and you can really lean into all the weird and wonderful. I hope that other brides enjoy the freedom of really creating something that feels uniquely personal to them, its been the best part of the planning process so far!
