There is so much to consider when choosing your wedding suit. For most grooms-to-be the task can feel somewhat daunting – and scrolling through countless ill-fitting grey suits online is exhausting, not to mention dispiriting. Fear not, as The Wedding Edition is here to help. We’ve rounded-up the best wedding suits for men from our trusted little black book of favourite brands. The first thing to consider has to be the dress code, especially if it’s already gone out on your invitations. Is the wedding black tie, morning dress or a destination wedding? This will hugely influence your decision with the fabric and colourway you choose. Next, it needs to be something you feel good in. Don’t be afraid to inject some personality and try on different styles until you feel like you’ve found ‘the one’. Here are our picks of the very best wedding suits for men, so you’re the best-dressed man on your big day.

Favourbrook

The go-to for rockstars and royalty – Favourbrook is where to head for solid, sartorial satisfaction that’s a cut above the norm. The brand makes many of its garments in England and seeks out sustainable materials such as wool and recycled cashmere. Grooms unsure of where to start will benefit from Favourbrook’s three decades of experience – personal shopping is available in-store by appointment or by virtual consultation. And those wanting to stand out from the crowd can rest assured in the knowledge that formalwear garments and accessories are only made in small batches.

Beggars Run

Beggars Run founders Cian McAuliffe and Edward Hussey met in Dublin as teens and, happily for Shoreditch, decided to take their creativity there. Grooms with a love of artistry and unique clothing should wend their way to the East London duo’s studio – be warned, it is appointment-only, although the founders say that if you’re in the area and look in: “You might get lucky.” A belief in slow-fashion and minimising waste means Beggars Run garments and wedding suits are made-to-order with unique, curated cloths developed with English mills. This process also allows creative input from the groom, which some may relish if the wedding planner has all other design bases covered.

Charles Tyrwhitt

Charles Tyrwhitt was founded by Nick Wheeler and the moniker is actually his middle names (Tyrwhitt is a family name in memory of Sir Hercules Tyrwhitt, an ancient ancestor ‘slain in 1067 on a bridge in Northumbria’). With such a heritage behind the brand name, and the evident attention to detail in the beautiful tailoring, it’s little wonder that the brand’s garments are timeless. There’s also a respect for tradition here. The classic dinner suit – bow tie, waistcoat and shawl lapel tux – is clean, smart and suave. If you’re having a black-tie wedding and want to look impeccable, this is the groom’s suit for you.

Huntsman, Savile Row

Huntsman does sleek off-the-peg garments, its signature being the one-button silhouette designed by Campbell Carey, the brand’s Head Cutter and Creative Director. Of course, you can’t go wrong in one of the ready-to-wear wedding suits, but seeing as Huntsman is celebrating 175 years of bespoke excellence, now is the time to commission a tailor-made garment. With up to 28 measurements to create a 2D rendering of your body and up to 80 hours of skilled handiwork from Savile Row tailors and cutters, this will be a wedding suit to treasure for years to come. And should you hanker for half an inch more on a cuff or a printed silk lining, it’s yours for the asking.

Oliver Brown

Oliver Brown believes in making grooms feel at home, in fact it aims to provide a welcoming atmosphere akin to a modern club where shoppers can find advice and real conversation (and perhaps a recommendation for the best place for a post-shopping negroni). This Chelsea tailor has a solid base as a traditional gentleman’s outfitters, so you’ll find classic wedding suits aplenty, but the team also champions the trend for separates – especially with its bespoke garments. Grooms after striking silhouettes and prints for a more offbeat, contemporary vibe can begin a voyage of discovery here.

T M Lewin

Grooms planning ahead for a sleek, slim-cut wedding suit we salute your organisation and advise you to take a look at T.M. Lewin. The brand has dedicated itself to balancing tradition and trend since 1898, and it’s evident from its effortless yet smart wedding suits that it has succeeded. The Italian Luxury Suits collection is the ideal range for a warm-weather wedding or cooler spring climes as wool is naturally breathable, keeping you fresh in the heat and warm in the chill. And the luxurious wool is sourced from Italian mills. Choose a two-piece or a three-piece, hop on a vespa to the church and say buongiorno to your bride.
