The Best Barn Wedding Venues in the UK for 2026

Once synonymous with hay bales and welly boots, today’s barn wedding venues sit on thousand-acre estates, sleep entire house parties and serve feasts grown on the land outside. From a moated 14th-century manor in Herefordshire to a ninth-generation organic farm in Cornwall, these are the barn wedding venues rewriting the rulebook – and making the case that there is no more stylish a setting for a British wedding.

The Best Barn Wedding Venues

Leez Priory, Essex

The exposed-beam Coach House barn is the standout ceremony and reception space at this red brick 16th-century Tudor mansion in rural Essex, just over an hour from London. Set within 40 acres of picture-perfect parkland – complete with babbling brooks, a croquet lawn and fishermen’s cottages – it is one of eight licensed spaces, available for exclusive takeover.

The Cherry Barn, East Sussex

A thoughtfully restored 17th-century oak-framed barn sits within a 400-acre working farm in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just outside the picturesque town of Rye. The Cherry Barn blends agricultural heritage with a clean, contemporary finish – a backdrop that suits any design vision – hosting up to 200 guests for ceremony and reception. An apple orchard Gazebo and golden Meadow framed by ancient oaks offer equally compelling outdoor alternatives.

Wasing Park, Berkshire

The Grade II-listed Castle Barn sits at the centre of this 4,000-acre Berkshire estate, just an hour from London – oak beams, sandstone floors and capacity for up to 160 guests. A light-filled Garden Room, a Victorian Summerhouse and the neighbouring 15th-century Parish Church of St Nicholas extend the celebrations beyond its walls, while the estate’s working farm, forest bathing, sauna and yoga ensure the weekend feels as restorative as it does festive.

Kingston Estate, Devon

The Hayloft barn – a striking glass-panelled structure flooded with natural light and framed by ancient stone walls and mature trees – anchors this extraordinary 30-acre estate near Totnes, where listed Georgian architecture meets the freewheeling spirit of a private festival. It seats up to 180 for the reception, while the Long Barn – warm and rustic with exposed stone and oak beams – makes an intimate setting for the wedding breakfast, and the rose-wrapped Walled Garden is a favourite for vows.

Nancarrow Farm, Cornwall

Tucked into 100 acres of rolling Cornish countryside, Nancarrow has been an organic family farm for nine generations. The Grade II listed Rusty Barn is an immediately dramatic space: a soaring double-height timber frame, exposed board walls strung with festoon lights and vast barn doors that open directly onto the meadow valley beyond. It hosts ceremonies for up to 130 guests, with five barns in total, farm-to-table feasting from the Nancarrow kitchen and accommodation for up to 30 including three Shepherd’s Huts in warmer months.

Cripps Barn, Gloucestershire

Originally a Tithe Barn, this 18th-century Cotswold stone barn in the Coln Valley has been transformed into an all-seasons wedding venue without losing an ounce of its character. Flagstone floors, vaulted oak beams, a medieval chandelier and a roaring stone fireplace as the ceremony backdrop make it one of the most visually arresting barn spaces in the country.

Anthology Farm, Gloucestershire

Originally built in 1740 from local Cotswold stone, this collection of beautifully converted barns near Cheltenham sits on 500 acres of rolling farmland within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The result of an award-winning London design house and a family with three decades of hospitality experience, Anthology Farm pairs light beams and lead-paned windows with a snug-luxe contemporary interior. With capacity for up to 100 guests for weddings and elopements, a long banquet table, heated indoor pool and purpose-built yoga studio it is available exclusively through the Unique Homestays collection.

Merriscourt, Oxfordshire

Set on 500 acres on the Oxfordshire-Gloucestershire border, Merriscourt is the Cotswolds barn wedding done properly. The Stone Barn – pale limestone walls, soaring arched windows and a light-filled interior that lends itself to any aesthetic – serves as the primary ceremony space, before guests move through The Gallery for drinks and into the White Barn for a wedding breakfast crafted by the venue’s Michelin-trained chef.

Caswell House, Oxfordshire

Dating back to 1485, Caswell House’s three restored Cotswold stone barns sit within 300 acres of countryside, complete with walled gardens and a picturesque moat. The ancient arched entrance – framed by climbing ivy and young trees – sets the tone for ceremonies held al fresco in the courtyard, while inside, honey-toned stone walls, exposed timber rafters strung with festoon lights and iron candelabras create a warmly atmospheric reception space.

The Tythe Barn, Oxfordshire

A collection of three refurbished Cotswold stone barns on a 17th-century working farm in the Deeley family for over 500 years, the agrarian Tythe Barn brings quintessentially English character to every corner. The 14th-century Thatched Barn – with double-height barn doors, Cotswold stone walls and oak beams draped in fairy lights – handles ceremonies and receptions for up to 220, while the Cowshed and Hovel offers floor-to-ceiling views, timber beams and three flame-effect fires.

Norton Grounds, Cotswolds

A 120-acre farm estate in the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Norton Grounds has been home to the Valender family for three generations. The characterfully restored Threshing Barn – exposed stone, timber beams and underfloor heating – hosts ceremonies for up to 120, while large oak concertina doors give way to the Cow Shed: a generously proportioned space with patchwrok timber and stone walls, draped ceilings, Edison bulbs and polished concrete floors that seats up to 130 for the reception.

Brinsop Court, Herefordshire

Few wedding venues can claim 800 acres, a medieval moat and a barn whose floor-to-ceiling windows frame one of England’s most beautiful counties. The oak Knot Barn – a striking contemporary cedar-clad structure set against open Herefordshire fields – is just one of three extraordinary spaces at this Grade I listed, 14th-century estate, alongside a Banqueting Hall with carbon-dated beams and an Elizabethan Library crowned by an extraordinary plasterwork ceiling.

Crockwell Farm, Northamptonshire

The restored Vaulted Barn – soaring oak beams, honeyed stone walls, licensed for every inch of its character-filled interior – is the centrepiece of this family-run exclusive estate at the bucolic heart of South Northamptonshire. Spread across 400 acres of pastoral fields, seasonal gardens and rewilded meadows, it offers ceremonies everywhere from under an oak arbour in a damson, lime and cherry orchard to candlelit barn dancing for up to 200.

Scarlet Hall, Cheshire

Mood is everything at Scarlet Hall – and the 17th-century estate’s Events Barn delivers in abundance. Dark timber, exposed brick, sweeping floor-length drapes and a cascade of fairy lights come together to create something of scale – more like a film set than a wedding venue. Beyond its walls, English meadows and a red apple orchard host the champagne reception, while an indoor heated pool, sauna and an entire week of exclusive hire under the Unique Homestays collection ensure the celebration extends well beyond the day itself.

Doxford Barns, Northumberland

The 18th-century Threshing Hall stops people in their tracks – towering ancient stone walls, a mezzanine gallery trailing dried botanicals, hanging floral installations and candlelight altar creating something that feels closer to a sacred space than a converted barn. Seamlessly connected to The Coop, the bridal party can prepare, descend the staircase and process straight up the aisle without stepping outside.
