Real-life bride and beauty expert, Poppy Kentish, shares her skincare and beauty secrets
Hi, I’m Poppy; makeup lover, product hoarder and all round beauty fanatic, and as of 5 weeks ago, happily married! I fall in the category of girls who have dreamt of their wedding day for as along as they can remember, endless vision boards later and my, sorry, OUR wedding day, (must remember it wasn’t all about me!) was more then we could ever have hoped for. Our wedding finally took place August 7th 2021 at my parents private home in East Sussex, another dream of mine. Like most brides my beauty regime went to a new level of high maintenance before the big day, from making my skincare the best it’s ever been to finding the best products that will give me flawless long wearing makeup.
SKINCARE
Until recently I had quiet a basic routine, I used a cream cleanser to take off my makeup, a toner and a moisturiser, but something clearly wasn’t working because my skin was not happy but then I discovered the wonderful world of cleansing balms and double cleansing, the Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm to be precise is absolute skincare heaven, it removes my makeup without tugging at my eye area, leaves no trace of mascara and results in my my skin feeling glossy and smooth. I have always struggled with sensitive skin that breakouts very easily so the next two products were life savers. Firstly the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser is the perfect second step to your double cleansing routine because it’s soft and gentle but you can feel once your done that your skin is clean and feels fresh but not stripped and dry. The next product might not be for everyone as it’s a personalised product that you get like a subscription. You speak to the professionals at Skin+Me about all your skin woes and they tailor the product specifically for you. This product I would recommend using for at least 6-8 weeks before you start seeing results but once you do, you won’t go back and you won’t want to ever be without it.
Makeup
Makeup has always been my first love when it comes to beauty and so my makeup for my wedding I wanted to be perfect. Something I would highly recommend to any bride is to have a makeup trial, it was crucial to me to have a trial with my makeup artist who just happened to by my sister. I wanted to have fresh flawless skin and foundation was a product I really tested out in the run up to the wedding. I tried a variety of foundations that needed to be full coverage, long wearing, skin like finish and must photograph well (little tip; make sure your foundation photos well with no flashback), I ended up with TooFaced Born This Way Matte Foundation. I wanted to use tones on my eyes that I knew worked well on me, we used a combination of the Toofaced The Natural Nudes Palletand NARS Summer Solstice Pallet for the perfect look. I absolutely loved my makeup on the day, it was me on my best day and exactly what I wanted. It lasted all the way till the end of the night and I didn’t leave my dance floor once.
