Discover the beauty secrets and wedding day makeup essentials that made Chantal Piper’s big day unforgettable. Here is the wedding edition exclusive interview on her Wedding Day Makeup With Tom Ford Beauty
What was your inspiration behind your wedding day makeup look?
I wanted to ensure my makeup (as well as my wedding dress) was a fitting tribute to the historic, stunning venue we had chosen. In a nod to The Ned, I chose a classic look inspired by the glamourous starlets of the roaring 20s using rich bronzes and golden-brown tones which Tom Ford Beauty does so well.
Can you share the key products used to achieve your look?
The pinks and purples in the Eye Color Quad in Honeymoon were used to make the green in my hazel eyes pop. I also cannot recommend the Traceless concealer enough, I barely slept a wink the night before my wedding and this made my eyes look like I had had a full 8+ hours!
My husband and I also went to Tom Ford Beauty to choose our wedding fragrances with a consultation with their in-house scent experts. I’ve always been someone who associates scent to people and places and we wanted something special for big day. We got married in the height of summer, so I chose Soleil de Feu which smells like hot sun kissed skin. Joe chose Ébène Fumé which complimented mine perfectly, as recommended by the team. A great trick is to spritz your veil just before you walk down the aisle, leaving a gorgeous trail of scent behind you.
Who did your makeup, and how did you choose them?
The Tom Ford Beauty team are exceptional. I was fortunate enough to have had my makeup done for some very special events previously, and so there was no one else I was going to choose! Marko had always left me feeling like the very best version of myself – glowing, confident, and ready to dance the night away! On that note, the Architecture Soft Matte blurring foundation coupled with the Hyaluronic Energising Mist means that your makeup stays in place all night, so miraculously you still look fresh 8 hours later…
How did you prepare your skin for the big day?
I visited Minimal by Hadda for a Total Sculpt facial the week before my wedding with the leading lady herself. I was told by friends who had visited her that my skin would look like glass afterward – which was a highly accurate depiction.
On the day I used the Y Therom Serum by 111SKIN which is my skincare savoir for calming stressed-out skin, it takes away redness and keeps inflammation at bay. I then used the 111SKIN Rose Gold mask from their radiance collection – this provided the perfect glowy base for my Tom Ford Beauty look.
Were there any special techniques or tricks used to ensure your makeup lasted all day?
Marko contoured my face to perfection. I wanted a slight cat eye and lift to my face, which he achieved seamlessly through the Shade and Illuminate Contour Duo palette. He cleverly placed a contour on the corner of the eye and blended it upwards towards my temple – the before and after effect is incredible.
What advice would you give to brides-to-be when choosing their wedding day makeup?
Understandably everyone wants to look their best on their wedding day, I’d recommend working with an artist who is going to enhance what you already have as opposed to transforming – you still want to look and feel like yourself.
My advice is to sit back with a glass of champagne while your glam squad gets to work – and to enjoy the process!
