We love designing table settings filled with thoughtful touches, creating an eye-catching look and a more impactful experience for guests. From unique placements to small considerate gifts, when it comes to tablescapes, it’s all in the details…
A waterfall of white…
We recently designed a tablescape to celebrate the Wedding Edition x Jo Loves lunch; it was a truly beautiful setting and definitely a Moriarty highlight. Inspired by the elegant and clean aesthetic of Jo Loves, a white colour pallet was selected paired with a slight pop of red to mirror the brand’s iconic red dot. A stunning white rise-and-fall floral table runner was created, cascading at one end, creating a tumbling visual for guests entering the room.
Each place setting was completed with an embroidered napkin, presenting the word ‘Amore’ which was perfectly placed over the delicately hand-drawn menus. Embroidered napkins are a great way to personalise a table and offer endless opportunities to make the design your own! A candle monogrammed with each guest’s name and a special date in their life was used in place of the traditional place card and also provided the perfect takeaway item that would be cherished for months to come. Macaroons printed with Jo Loves signage and edible gold flakes were boxed up and tied in a perfect red bow, adding a cohesive pop of colour. Providing an array of bespoke items offers a personalised experience while complementing the overall look and feel of the room, leaving a lasting impact of the event in the guests’ minds.
Capturing the coast…
Located at the gorgeous Carbis Bay, we designed a stunning evening setting. With panoramic views of the Cornish sea, we wanted to take guests on a journey to encapsulate the coastal feel at the table offering a seamless transition of the stunning surroundings.
Dressed with coastal blue florals, green foliage and interwoven corals, guests were transported to the seafront. Shell-shaped menus complimented the shell placements that had been hand calligraphed with the guest’s name. Using calligraphy adds a touch of luxury to the table, while a hand-written gift adds a more sentimental connection to the event. Nautical-inspired napkin rings, scattered shells and sea debris added raw texture to the space and enhanced the natural tones present. Cream, blue and teal tapered candles lined the table and once lit created an intimate and warm glow complementary to the evening sun. Using a mixture of shapes, colours and textures created a harmonious blend and provided a visually pleasing environment that matched the space and surroundings perfectly.
Autumnal Blooms…
A look dedicated to the changing seasons and the importance of sustainability, we designed a setting using an array of environmentally friendly choices. By using local suppliers, seasonal blooms and carefully curated collateral, we were able to produce an atmospheric evening that not only looked beautiful but supported the social responsibility ethos of both the client and Moriarty.
The brief when designing this tablescape was to limit the amount of ‘single use’ materials which meant finding alternatives to the traditional florals, collateral and takeaway items usually found at events. We opted for potted plants over pre-cut flowers as they offered a natural touch of autumn while inviting guests to take them home to be re-purposed. Using seasonal flowers also gave us the opportunity to work with local suppliers, supporting smaller independent businesses.
When it came to designing the menus, we used seeded card which allowed for bespoke printing designs to be more sustainable. These encouraged guests to plant their collateral at home and begin to nurture an array of wildflowers that would continue to bloom into the future. Finding alternative materials can be a simple and effective way to combine luxury prints with more conscious decisions. To add to this, each place setting was completed with a hand-painted ceramic dish, designed specifically for the event by an artist. Once again involving independent artisans and offering a personalised eco-friendly keepsake for guests to use in years to come. With all these elements in place, an autumnal dream was achieved with tones of red, orange and yellow flowing throughout, elevated by tantalising senses such as sight, touch and smell through the use of natural and raw materials.
An overview of the details…
When creating a table design, incorporating small and meaningful touches elevate every kind of event from a small dinner for 5 people to a wedding party of 150. Details from bespoke touches to the type of flowers used adds depth to the design and not only makes the setting more visually pleasing by emotionally stimulating for guests!
