Why St Tropez?
Next silly question! However, in all honesty, I didn’t actually ask for a certain location – I just wanted to go somewhere everyone could relax and have the most incredible time. My wonderful maid of honour used to always joke she saw me as a St Tropez kind of girl, and boy was she right! I’m already planning a trip back for my 30th… whether you’re a bride or simply looking for a fun girls (or boys!) trip, St Tropez is most definitely for you.
Where we stayed…
I almost don’t want to say because I feel like it’s St Tropez’ best kept secret… but we stayed in this stunning and chic Provencal villa overlooking the breathtaking French Riveria. Every morning, I’d open the shutters and stare out to the sea, counting the many yachts in the distance. The gardens are divine, with the scent of jasmine and white roses filling the air – it certainly had bride-to-be written all over it! The villa had a large outdoor dining area situated in a beautiful courtyard, decorated with antique terracotta Provencal tiles. And to top it all off, there was a gorgeous swimming pool to dip in and out of on those balmy South of France days.
What we did…
Grab your popcorn, or a glass of the finest Provence rose, cause you’re about to be taken through the most epic hen itinerary…
We arrived quite late on Friday night, so after exchanging goodie bags filled with wonderful gifts from Chlo Bo Jewellery, Auree, Stripe & Stare, 111Skin, Perrier Jouet (to name a few), and my gift to all the girls, Gigi & Olive Tiny Personalised Wicker Basket, we decided to get some beauty sleep.
On Saturday we all had breakfast and coffee by the pool, before walking to the port in St Tropez – whilst I was dressed in white, the other 11 girls were dressed in shades of blue for the first theme of the weekend.
We got distracted on the way by the vibrant French market, filled with wonderful trinkets and fresh delicacies. As we arrived at the port, our boat was stuck in traffic so we decided to crack open champagne and watch the boats go by. I burst into tears the moment the boat arrived as I was blown away – it was out of this world! We danced and continued to drink champagne as the boat sailed to Club 55 – the most relaxed yet chic beachside restaurant, the tables adorned with gorgeous blue table linen and seaside themed crockery.
We enjoyed a stunning meal of fresh fish, frites, and crunchy salade verte, washed down by a magnum (or two) of Minuty rose – bliss! We ended the lunch with a dip in the ocean, before reboarding our boat which took us back to St Tropez.
That evening, we embarked on our second theme, “bejewelled bride tribe” (think sequins, metallic, feathers!) and were greeted by a private chef organised by my wonderful sister-in-law. My maid of honour and bridesmaids embellished the courtyard so beautifully with twinkling tree lights and bride-to-be decor, a perfect setting for a perfect three course dinner. We then headed out to VIP Room where we took over the revolving dance floor until the early hours of the morning.
The next day we rallied the (hungover) troops and went to Nikki Beach St Tropez, which was epic. We chilled on our oversized plush beds by the pool, sipping on rose, listening to a live guitarist before the DJ arrived and it got very vibey. We literally had the best day, dancing for a solid 5 hours, fuelled by amazing food and a shot of Don Julio or two (or three..!) The excitement was clearly all too much for me as I had a very early bedtime that evening, but the rest of the group had a pizza party before heading to bed.
Day three we decided to brush off the cobwebs by doing a 45 minute walk to our lunch spot, Loulou Ramatuelle. They clearly knew we’d bring the party, situating us in the centre of the restaurant, in front of the DJ booth and a view out to the ocean. An ode to my love of Italy, the tables were decorated with lemons, fresh herbs, and yellow and green crockery, nestled amongst olive trees and fragrant lemon trees. After agreeing we just tried THE best truffle pizza in the world (no joke), it wasn’t long until we were dancing on the tables with a little limoncello along the way. That evening, by some miracle, my bridesmaids managed to whip up a meal of cheese, fresh baguette, cold meats, and salad before singing (shouting) 90s classics and chatting until midnight.
On the final day, we decided to walk down to St Tropez village to explore the vibrant multi-coloured streets, and gorgeous shops. Thanks to my amazing maid of honour, we also managed to dine at Dior Des Lices – every girl’s dream cafe in a courtyard garden, attached to a Dior boutique.
We then reluctantly made our way back to the villa to take one final look at the unbeatable view before saying our farewells.
Where we ate…
As you can probably tell, we ate SO well every day and I would recommend every lunch spot listed. Club 55 for its relaxed french chic (arriving by boat is a must) and french fries, and Loulou Ramatuelle for its incredible vibes, the view of the turquoise sea, and the unforgettable truffle pizza (new death row meal). The staff at all the locations were unbelievably attentive and friendly – an unforgettable experience!
What we packed…
I had a LOT of fun planning out my outfits and whilst white of COURSE dominated, I incorporated a lot of sparkle, as well as feathers. My fave accessories were my Cult Gaia crystal-embellished tote, Gigi & Olive hand embroidered linen bow, and a GORGEOUS pair of pearl drop earrings from Toollaly which my bridesmaid kindly let me borrow (and I will be purchasing immediately).
For french chic, I loved my white linen midi dress from Reformation, finished off with a pair of Hermes oran sandals and a rattan tote bag.
For unique and epic beachwear, I would highly recommend checking out Maiyo London – think crochet, embellishment, and feathers (= bridal heaven!)
Best moment of the hen weekend…
Every single day was as perfect as the next. For me, it was seeing all my closest and best friends coming together and having the best time of their lives. I really wanted my hen to not be all about me being a bride, but about celebrating each other and unmatched friendships, and we did just that! We made the happiest memories that will last a lifetime and I will be forever grateful to my friends for organising a weekend that was truly out of this world.
