Inside: Rosie Anna Williams’ Chic Bridesmaid Proposal

Tell us about your bridesmaid proposal

As we chose not to have an engagement party, it felt really important to me to still mark the moment but in a more intimate and meaningful way with my closest friends. I always knew they would be my bridesmaids, so it felt only natural to combine that celebration with my bridesmaid proposal and create something truly special.

I envisaged creating the ‘ultimate girls’ night in’, in an elevated and luxurious way. It was a luxury private dinner set in a beautiful location, with French wine, personalised cocktails and music that we danced to throughout the evening. It then flowed into a relaxed, cosy sleepover, complete with matching pyjamas and a movie under the stars.

I wanted it to feel thoughtful, personal, and unforgettable – something that really reflects how much each of them means to me.

Seeing it all come together was incredibly special, and it truly exceeded everything I had imagined. I owe so much to Cleo Alexiou Luxury Events for bringing the vision to life so seamlessly. I actually met Cleo in an event hosted by The Wedding Edition, and looking back, it genuinely feels like fate. She understood exactly what I wanted from the beginning and brought my vision to life.

Where did you host the evening, and what details made it special for your friends?

We hosted the event at a beautiful private rental property from Unique Country Retreats, nestled in the Welsh Valleys, an area that feels incredibly special to me as it’s where I grew up alongside my bridesmaids. It felt really meaningful to bring everyone back there to celebrate such an important moment in my life.

The setting itself was absolutely perfect. We were so lucky with the weather as it had been raining the day before and the day after, but on the day of the event, we had uninterrupted sunshine. It honestly felt like someone was looking out for me and wanted everything to run smoothly.

The property has so many standout features that made the experience unforgettable including a large, heated swimming pool, expansive gardens overlooking the Welsh mountains, beautifully designed bedrooms, and even an outdoor bathtub on the balcony. It created the most magical backdrop for the evening.

What did you wear?

I asked all my guests to wear white, as it felt fitting for my proposal to them. Having everyone coordinated added to the overall aesthetic and made everything feel more elevated.

I wore a beautiful lace mini dress from Rosie Etienne Bridal which felt particularly meaningful as it’s the same brand I worked with on my engagement dress. I paired it with stunning bridal shoes from Bella Belle Shoes and delicate diamond jewellery from The Diamond Store.

The overall look felt timeless, feminine, and perfectly suited to the occasion.

Did you choose a particular theme, colour palette or style that reflected your wedding vision?

For the bridesmaid proposal, I wanted to embrace the idea of a “girls’ night in”, but with a refined, luxurious twist. We built the overall aesthetic around a soft, elegant palette of predominantly white with subtle accents of blush pink.

We were very intentional in ensuring the styling remained elevated and cohesive. All the guests in white, complemented by white floral arrangements of hydrangeas and roses, white & gold tableware and French inspired furniture. We then layered in delicate touches of pale pink through the florals, rosé wine, pool inflatables, and even small details like perfume bottles and lipstick covers.

It all came together so beautifully – effortless yet considered. Looking back at the photos and videography still makes me smile. It was such a special moment, captured in the most elegant way.

What gifts or surprises did you include in your bridesmaid proposal boxes or table setting?

I had a very clear vision when it came to the gifts for my bridesmaids. Rather than traditional proposal boxes, I chose to have everything beautifully styled and placed at their seats around the dinner table. It felt more immersive and in keeping with the overall experience of the evening.

I had always imagined proposing in a more formal, symbolic way – with a proposal ring – and that is exactly what I did.

Each of the girls received a half diamond eternity ring from The Diamond Store, with a matching one for myself. My thinking was simple but meaningful: half an eternity ring for me and the other half for them, because when we are together, we are whole. They’ve now become our friendship rings, which feels incredibly special.

Throughout the planning process, I kept saying, “diamonds are a girl’s best friend, so give your best friend a diamond” and I really leaned into that sentiment.

Alongside the rings, I curated a selection of thoughtful, personalised gifts including engraved bottles of Creed fragrance in the Eladaria scent, which is a personal favourite of mine. They also had engraved lipsticks from Guerlain in shade Rosy Nude (a subtle nod to my name), personalised cookies from Posh Cookie Co., mini wine bottles from Ultimate Provence, personalised pyjamas from Homebodii and personalised pillowcases from UK Sew Sisters. Every detail was chosen to feel both luxurious and personal to them.

How did your friends react when you asked them to be your bridesmaids?

The most meaningful part of the evening came from something much simpler. Each of my bridesmaids, for their final gift, received a handwritten letter from me, sharing why their friendship means so much and why I want them by my side on my wedding day.

I hadn’t expected them to read the letters aloud, but just before dinner was served, they decided to go around the table and share them with everyone. It was such an emotional and beautiful moment and one I’ll never forget. Hearing and seeing their reactions in real time made everything feel even more special.

Each letter ended with the question asking them to be my bridesmaid…and thankfully, they all said yes.

What advice would you give brides who want to create a bridesmaid proposal that feels personal and unforgettable?

If you are anything like me, you go into this knowing (or at least hoping) that it is something you will only do once. From the engagement, to the bridesmaid proposal, to the hen celebrations and ultimately, the wedding itself, these are moments you’’ carry with you forever.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to create the experience that I did, but looking back, it’s not able the scale, the cost, or the extravagance. What truly matters is creating something memorable and meaningful with the people you love most.

For me, the handwritten letters were the most powerful part of the entire evening. They were personal, emotional, and completely irreplaceable.
