William Magee and Hannah Mason met at Exeter university, and had been together for 11 years when Will proposed on Christmas Day. Hannah works for lululemon heading up their e-commerce business and Will is a finance consultant. They started planning their cool wedding at The Nomad at a leisurely pace but when Will was for further treatment for a brain tumour decided to fast track and turn it around in one month.
The best part of our day was….
Will: seeing Hannah walk up the aisle
Hannah: saying our vows & the dancing!
We chose to get married at…
The NoMad because we love our city, London! They had a venue perfect for our 50 guests. It was not too big, or small, and they had a private bar we could enjoy. Just the right amount of New York glamour mixed with British heritage and the team were amazing.
I knew I found ‘The One’ when….
Hannah: I don’t believe in this! I didn’t burst into tears trying on dresses. It’s special, but I think it’s a story we are told which creates a lot of pressure to find ‘the perfect… XYZ’. I found a beautiful dress, made by Ally from Clover London who lives basically on my road. I could see myself getting married in it, I felt good and supporting Ally as she was just starting her business journey made it an easier decision!

The most enjoyable moments of planning were…
Spending time together, understanding our strengths and desires as we figured out what we wanted. It helped to crystallize what we love in our lives and how to bring that to life on the big day. Oh, and the food, wine & cocktail tasting.

The hardest part of planning was…
Turning around the legal and religious paperwork in a one month window. Our wedding certificate was ready the morning of our wedding and we got confirmation from our priest just one week before! Just keep calm, have faith, and don’t make a plan B as that’s a defeat from the beginning!

No particular accounts but I love searching and finding old wedding pictures. They are less staged; anyone’s everyday style that you admire, find their wedding photos!
My top three tips for any couple would be…
Separate the marriage from the wedding. You can be ‘married’, without the perfect party, and the marriage will pay back every day of your life. The party is a bonus, so you can only enjoy it and make decisions based around what you love together. Not what your guests might expect or want.
If I was able to do it all over again, the one thing I would change is…
Absolutely nothing. We were incredibly privileged and grateful to have the experience we did. In fact, it’s made us want to throw another party, we’re a great team!
