Inside: Azazie’s Summer Soirée at Hedsor House

There are few places that capture the romance of an English country house quite like Hedsor House. Hidden behind its iconic mile-long tree-lined driveway and perched high above the Thames Valley, the Grade II-listed Georgian mansion has welcomed everyone from royalty to Hollywood stars across its centuries-long history. Once favoured by Queen Charlotte and King George III, today it remains one of Britain’s most sought-after private houses and wedding venues, where grand architecture, sweeping parkland and storied interiors come together in a setting that feels wonderfully untouched by time.

For one glorious July evening, The Wedding Edition and Azazie transformed the estate into the ultimate bridesmaids’ escape, inviting an intimate group of brides-to-be, tastemakers and content creators to celebrate modern bridal style, lifelong friendships and the romance of an English summer house party. Among those checking in were Ana Marlene, Mercedes Benson, Goodie, Talilla Henchoz, Chloe Davie, Sophie Porley, Alice Amelia McWilliams, Jordan Rose, Shu Lin and The Wedding Edition‘s own Social Editor, Holly Harris, whose effortless summer style brought every corner of Hedsor House beautifully to life.

Renowned for redefining modern bridesmaid dressing, Azazie has become a favourite amongst contemporary brides thanks to its made-to-order collections, inclusive sizing and beautifully considered colour palette. Every dress is crafted to order, allowing bridesmaids to choose silhouettes that feel entirely their own whilst creating a beautifully cohesive bridal party. Alongside its celebrated bridesmaid collections, the brand’s ready-to-wear wedding guest edit has become equally sought-after, offering elegant looks for every celebration surrounding the wedding itself, from engagement parties and rehearsal dinners to destination weddings and black-tie receptions.

Guests were collected from London by Prestige Cars before winding through Hedsor’s spectacular tree-lined drive, passing the estate’s much-loved Highland cows before the house slowly revealed itself beyond the trees. Champagne and canapés awaited on the front steps, where luggage was whisked upstairs and guests settled into one of Hedsor’s beautifully appointed bedrooms, each overlooking the rolling Buckinghamshire countryside.

Awaiting each guest inside their room was a carefully curated welcome from Azazie, including a beautifully selected dress, matching pyjamas, silk eye masks and thoughtful gifting, transforming every bedroom into the sort of bridal dressing room every wedding morning deserves.

With the afternoon stretching ahead, guests were encouraged to enjoy Hedsor exactly as it was intended. Some wandered through the immaculate gardens and ancient woodland, others challenged one another to croquet on the lawns, while many ventured off in search of the estate’s enchanting Faraway Tree, affectionately named after Enid Blyton’s much-loved stories. Hidden amongst the woodland, it remains one of Hedsor’s most magical corners, offering the perfect excuse to disappear into nature before returning to dress for the evening.

As the July sun softened, guests gathered once more on the terrace for golden hour cocktails. The bespoke Faraway Tree Cocktail and Hedsor Hot Honey Margarita were served overlooking the gardens before everyone made their way onto the front lawn, where one spectacular table stretched towards the house.

Designed by Flower & Press, the tablescape celebrated the romance of an English garden in full bloom. Clouds of garden roses, sweet peas, foxgloves, cosmos and seasonal flowers ran the length of the table in soft shades of ivory, blush and butter yellow, while delicate flower crowns echoed the same freshly gathered palette, creating a wonderfully carefree midsummer feel.

Beautifully layered by Duchess & Butler, the table combined elegant woven chargers, crystal glassware, fine linens and timeless cutlery with bespoke illustrated menus and place settings by Charlotte Willmore Design. As hundreds of candles flickered into life and the Georgian façade glowed behind the table, the scene felt less like an event and more like an impossibly romantic English house party.

Dinner, created by Lettice Events, celebrated the very best of the British summer. Renowned for producing some of London’s most elegant private parties, luxury weddings and brand events, the team are celebrated for their ingredient-led menus, impeccable service and beautifully understated presentation, making them the perfect partner for an evening centred around modern entertaining.

Morning arrived rather too quickly. Guests reappeared in matching Azazie pyjamas for breakfast, coffee and one final wander through the grounds before reluctantly making their way back to London. Waiting for them were beautifully curated farewell gifts from Hedsor House, including the estate’s own honey and signature cuvée, alongside thoughtful treats from Lettice Events to enjoy at home.

Guests began with chargrilled Sussex asparagus served alongside quail’s egg and pumpkin seed emulsion before moving on to beautifully grilled sea bream with rich crab butter, sea aster and bronze fennel. A refreshing Champagne and lemon sorbet cleansed the palate before an elegant trio of dessert canapés, including rhubarb and custard sandwiches, salted caramel chocolate bourbon bites and delicate yuzu meringue pies finished with Champagne-pickled lemon. Throughout the evening, English Pinot Gris from Cradle Valley accompanied the opening course, followed by Château Beaulieu’s Cuvée Alexandre Rosé from Provence, whilst guests continued to toast the evening with the Faraway Tree Cocktail and Hedsor’s Hot Honey Margarita.

As candlelight replaced the afternoon sun and the last of the golden light disappeared behind the house, guests drifted back inside Hedsor’s magnificent state rooms where conversations continued beneath glittering chandeliers long into the evening.

More than simply an overnight stay, Azazie’s Summer Soirée celebrated everything that surrounds a wedding long before the ceremony itself. The friendships that become family, the bridesmaids who stand beside you, the romance of an English country house and the rare luxury of gathering everyone together beneath one extraordinary roof. For one unforgettable midsummer evening, Hedsor House became exactly that.
