On a bright spring afternoon in late March, The Wedding Edition gathered a trailblazing set of tastemakers, editors and innovators at the ever stylish Rosewood London for a forward looking forum on the future of travel in partnership with Scott Dunn. Our beloved and characteristically chic Travel Editor, Rosalyn Wikeley, hosted the intimate luncheon within Rosewood London’s plush private dining room, The Living Room, welcoming a cohort of jet setters whose perspectives are reshaping the way we see the world. Guests in attendance included Anisa Sojka, Chessie King, Rosie Williams, Ollie and Gareth Locke Locke, Eshita Kabra Davies, Bianca Foley, Anita Kaushik, Rosana Chloe Lai and Fleur Raffan, each bringing their signature style and savvy to the table.
Against this backdrop, Cleo Alexiou masterminded a Mediterranean paradise, a testament to her truly singular eye. With subtle tropical accents to capture the spirit of a far-flung sun-dappled land and the help of some of our most favourite tableware brands, the spirit of the jungle was bottled, achieved through thoughtful stylistic elements, such as the addition of Sabre Bamboo cutlery from Maison Margeaux and the Big Cat tortoiseshell Addison Ross Salt and Pepper Grinders. Carefully integrated coral hues finalised the design vision, from Maison Margeaux’s Oscar de La Renta table set (a particular fan favourite) to Addison Ross’ orange scalloped coasters, contrasted against powder pink candles from Candle Flair. Floral Designer Holly Valanne used an expert eye to elevate the table even further, integrating deep purples and leafy greens – made even more charming by the addition of Renaissance-style grapes and artichokes – to create a sculptural dynamic table scape.
Guests sat for live illustrator of dreams, Hatty Pedder, who captured them at Xanadu destinations of their choosing, from the technicolour souks of Morocco to the crystal-clear waters of the Maldives, all in her signature magical, whimsical style. Videographer Liv Herring captured the fizzing hubbub of the room, and photographer James Mason snapped away at our esteemed guests in their natural habitat.
Guests took their seats, a glass of Louis Roeder Collection MV in hand, and the talk commenced. Roz, who regularly circumnavigates the globe (from the boot of Italy to the plains of Botswana) as a swashbuckling writer and editor, led the charge with the help of the in-the-know team at Scott Dunn, titans of the luxury travel industry, who hold the ultimate list of handpicked spots in their back pocket. And so a masterclass on the future of travel ensued, exploring the evolution of luxury travel towards experience-led adventures, led by a sustainable north star. Trending honeymoon destinations were discussed – look to the jungle of Costa Rica, palazzos of Italy, mountain plains of Colorado, and townhouses of Stockholm – the Scott Dunn Little Black Book was shared, and logistical considerations were duly noted.
A starter heralding the good tidings of spring was served, a light plate of burrata with lemon oil, asparagus, garden peas, and rocket pesto alongside a glass of Louis Roeder Cristal 2015. The culinary fanfare continued to the main course – a choice of fillet of beef or stuffed aubergine – harmoniously paired with Louis Roeder’s Rose Vintage 2017. Conversation abounded and a delicate apricot meringue was polished off by all, complemented by a glass of Louis Roederer Carte Blanche MV demi sec.
As the afternoon drew to a close, energised guests plotted the voyages of the future and took away a goodie bag that runneth over – from silky Chelsea Peers pyjamas, sparkling Beaches and Cream earrings, 100% Mulberry silk Silk Addict Gift sets, as well as thoughtful notebooks and sandy beach bags from Scott Dunn – bidding farewell to the dreamiest setting at Rosewood London.
