Elisabeth Mary Ruth Bean is a doctor and Peter James Cullen is an Operations Manager. The two were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend, where they met for rooftop drinks at Sushi Samba. The couple proposed at the kitchen island after a romantic first supper in their just completed renovation after several months of intense building work in the first home they bought together.
The best part of our day was
Impossible to identify one aspect or moment, but perhaps relaxing in the hot tub with our bridal party once all the guests had departed.
We chose to get married at..
St James’, Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, as this was where Lizzie’s parents had been married and the town has been the location of many happy trips and adventures for us as a couple. We chose our venue as we were able to hire the entire house, grounds, barn and neighbouring cottages for an extended weekend and design every aspect of the wedding weekend ourselves.
I knew I found ‘The One’ when
I knew I found the one when I stood in Louise’s beautiful studio, feeling radiantly happy and beaming ear to ear at the creation which exceeded every expectation and vision I had had. I told her what I wanted and she had made it, but better.
The most enjoyable moments of planning were..
All our weekends away in the Isle of Wight preparing for our wedding.
The hardest part of planning was..
Anticipating what effect Covid-19 would have on our planned celebration.
Our wedding menu highlights were..
‘The Burrata’… our caterer couldn’t get hold of 57 Burrata on the Isle of Wight last minute, so Lizzie raided the local supermarkets and the best man leant a hand with an industrial sized cooler so that we could import our own from the main land.
Our first dance song was..
Madness ‘Must be love’

My top three tips for any couple would be
Don’t sweat the small stuff
Embrace the minor hiccups as you’d rather have these in the hoards than a major catastrophe
Don’t be pressured by family or your perceived expectation of what people want or expect. It’s all about you as a couple, so keep that as the focus
For our honeymoon we chose..
A mini-moon with two nights at The George, Yarmouth and a couple of nights at a log cabin in the New Forest. We’ve yet to plan the major-moon, as we discovered we were expecting a new baby on day 4 of married life.
If I was able to do it all over again..
The one thing I would change is…we would have employed more help for the tidying up at the end of the weekend and made it clear to family and friends that we needed extra support with this. A storm collapsing the marquee and damaging the kiddie’s bell tent may not have helped!
