Why go?
With its ethereal turquoise seas and long stretches of talc-white beaches, (interrupted only by tall palm trees standing to attention), Mauritius has long been a honeymoon favourite.
Honeymoon Style
For the very definition of barefoot luxury, where romance manifests in high-octane dinners, extraordinary diving trips or simply the long, sun-baked afternoons Mauritius excels in. Couples can choose their own pace of honeymoon, from fly and flop agendas to geological tours and high-energy water sports.
Set the Scene
Situated at the foot of a jagged mountain, and directly facing the endless stretch of beach, the dramatic setting of Dinarobin feels exotic and otherworldly (not to mention a stellar backdrop to any wedding or honeymoon photographs). An old world scene of soft dark woods, neutral linens and lush greenery all frame a central infinity water pool that effortlessly glides the eye straight to the ocean. The easy pace of the day unfolds as you choose your private spot on the beach, recline alongside your own private pool or laze in a cabana not far from the bar.
Rooms
172 suites and three villas are arranged in sets of eight individual properties along the beachfront, with a crescent around individual pools. Enormous beds with deep pillows and art deco furnishings (some of which house quaint tea stations and old world drinks trays) evoke the home comforts of a well-to-do island chaser. Finishing touches such as a complimentary wet bag for your soggy swimwear on the day of checkout, ensure you enjoy the facilities right until the last second.
Food & Drink
The choice of eight restaurants doesn’t detract from the quality of food, yet offers a variety honeymooners will crave after a few days on a secluded island. With a focus on the freshest locally sourced ingredients, couples can expect everything from mouth watering trays of the freshest antipasti for an Italian feast on the beach, washed down with pale and ice-cool rosé to a traditional Indian stone baked curry or sushi platters giving top London Japanese restaurants a run for their money.
The Story
If Dinarobin is for the mind and soul, with its indulgent spa and relaxed old world style setting, its neighbouring sister property Paradis is for the body. A five minute dash of a shuttle-ride along the beach takes honeymooners into a hive of activity at Dinarobin‘s sister next-door resort. From sunrise until sun-downers you can keep busy on the 18-hole golf course, in the sea with a delicious all-inclusive water sports menu, on smart tennis courts and in a sports centre and gym (though you’d be forgiven for dozing off on a sun-lounger). What’s more, couples looking to get married are spoiled for choice, with exquisite spots on both properties – the Editor’s favourite being the long sandbar at the very northern point of Paradis, completely (and rather splendidly) surrounded by sea.
Family Friendly:
Both resorts are fantastic for children of all ages, with a full Kid’s Club where a shaded baby pool even has tiny mini sun-beds for tiny bathers! Expect crab races on the beach, treasure hunts and pirate adventures – all crucially buying parents time to relax in a nearby poolside cabana. Romantic evenings ensue with top-drawer babysitting services. Top Tip the term “kid” applies at Beachcomber until the age of 17.
Spa
A calming and quiet oasis shaded by shifting palm trees and arranged around a pool of water. Get your skin sun-ready with the natural salt and Mauritius oils scrub or go for the Waxy – a Shiatsu massage given in a pool to float and stretch any aches and pains away.
Eco Friendly
An enormous effort has been made towards sustainability at Beachcomber, with the resorts recycling all their own water, and filtering sea water, as well as their own water for irrigation. There are no single use plastics, and they even have their own bee hives on site. Locally sourced food is a win win for guests, who receive tasty, seasonal ingredients, and any leftovers are delivered to the island’s lower income areas, ensuring a zero waste policy and, in general, a more ethical approach.
Location
South of the island guarantees heaps of sunshine with a soft, warm breeze.
