Ensuring you feel great on your big day and getting groomed is one thing, but being at the right place with the right person will further more ensure that big day cut goes down a treat. TWE. Chats to Fadi Rachdi – Barber at Neville Hair & Beauty at Bulgari Hotel and experiences the The Gentlemen’s Cut, Shave and Cigar experience at Bvlgari Hotel London. We takeaway that this is not just any haircut experience, Rachdi is the expert in his field and is the person to see to elevate your grooming experience – whatever your hair or beard type.
How far in advance should a groom go to the Gentleman’s Grooming at The Bvlgari Spa ahead of the big day?
The groom should preferably come in for his haircut 3 to 5 days before his wedding day. Most men’s hairstyles look best 2 to 3 days after having been cut, when it sits in its most natural position. By allowing for a couple of days between the first haircut and the wedding, you will get an accurate idea of the way the hair sits. It is important to allow for any additional touch ups. If the groom has a beard, I recommend he has it touched up at the same time as the hair cut, i.e. 3-5 days prior. Depending on the style of hair and beard, I may recommend a final check-up on the big day, location permitting.
How should a groom go about managing their beard?
To keep your beard looking its best I recommend visiting your barber for beard trims. Shaping and shaves as this requires technical skills. Barbers will take into consideration face shape, eye colour and skin tone to give you the best possible result. For home care maintenance I only recommend using a drop of good beard oil to keep it soft and healthy between regular appointments.

Tell us about shaving and what you offer that’s unique?
Traditional hot towel shaving has many benefits for the skin and mind. When carried out by a professional barber, it stimulates the skin helping to renew cells and remove dead skin, and can reduce skin imperfections and alleviate rashes and problematic skin. The entire experience feels like such a treat, as it is incredibly relaxing with a great feeling of wellbeing.
Tell us about the face and body treatments – and which ones are essential on the lead up to the big day?
Whenever a groom comes to me before their big day, I always recommend the wet shaving experience and a haircut in the salon. I would also recommend they take the time to relax at The Bvlgari Spa with a treatment, such as a gentleman’s restorative facial or a soothing body massage to de-stress.
