Minka Jewels is a London-based jewellery business, founded by British gemmologist Lucy Crowther in 2016. Her designs are led by carefully selected, high-quality gemstones and she specialises in luxurious hand-made pieces – from exquisite engagement rings to bespoke one-of-a-kind jewels – inspired by everything from classical architecture to the beauty of the natural world.
I love working in the jewellery industry because….
It is such an interesting world of new and old; the places we go to source our stones are steeped in the most incredible history and often you have to really hunt for the right stone – I really love the challenge of this. Then you come across traders that might specialise in vintage jewellery of the most incredible quality so you see some really spectacular pieces, like a necklace of natural pearls which might have taken 6 years to put together or a wonderful old mine cut diamond.

It really is a journey: I love meeting the clients and working closely with them, teaching them about the various stones and what makes them so special. The stone sourcing is really my favourite part and of course handing over the finished piece is always a very special moment.

Getting out into the English countryside on a lovely sunny day and going for a long walk.
The most rewarding aspect of what I do is….
Working with my clients and finding them really special gemstones that they can treasure for a lifetime.

We have a few things up our sleeve that are very exciting: we have a new collaboration coming in May and then a new bold collection before Christmas… I can’t tell you too much more right now as I don’t want to ruin the surprise!
