TWE. Chats to Bianca White: primary school teacher turned candle painting-entrepreneur who turned her passion into her practice: Bable Candles. She has hand-produced thousands of candles that have been sent all around the world. With her pop-up recently opening in Selfridges, Bianca is the one to watch on the scene. Here are her 9 Questions with TWE.
I love working in my industry because….
It is full of so many kinds of interesting and creative people. The small business community is incredibly supportive, and I have made great friends from it who are doing amazing things. Such as my friend Amelia who is a co-founder of the event styling business Olive & Co who funnily enough lives at the end of my road and sells fab home wear.
I’m best known for…
My hand-painted candles at Bable. The lemon design, it is always my best seller and reminds me of the sunny Amalfi Coast and lemoncello.
My biggest achievement to date is…
Since Starting Bable last summer there have been so many magical moments but, I would have to say that my biggest achievement is getting stocked in Fortnum and Mason for their Christmas edit. I never thought that randomly experimenting with painting candles would result in me creating a business that is stocked in one of our biggest department stores!
My three top tips for any couple would be…
- I am a sentimental person and think that little personal touches of character really make the day unique to the couple.
- If the food and drinks are following and there is a dance floor then people will be more than happy.
- Lastly, everyone is there to celebrate you and your love, stay calm and enjoy it.
The current wedding trends I’m loving are…
I am a huge flower person; I love the wildflower vibe that I have been seeing recently. They create an enchanted fairy tale feel that looks effortless.
The podcast I’m listening to is…
One thing that I absolutely love doing is going on late night walks and listening to inspirational podcasts, I am big into Holy Tuckers ‘Conversations of Inspiration’ where people share their business stories and I learn that we are all human and everyone and I mean everyone makes mistakes!
My favourite place in the world to skip the crowds is…
Italy! The food, weather and the people are the best. It really is my favourite place in the world, I could go there every year and not get bored.
The best person to follow on Instagram for big-day inspo is…
Not strictly a wedding Instagram account but I would have to say Rosanna Falconer, she creates the most wonderful and accessible table set ups with so many simple yet effective tricks that you can adapt. Lots of colour, ribbon tricks and the best recipe cards I have seen!
And finally, what’s next for Bable ….
Next I would absolutely love to get my mitts into designing homeware. I am currently in the process of producing clay candle holder, they have been a long time coming but, I know will be worth the wait.
