There’s something endlessly romantic about a love story that finds its way back. Miyaeva and her fiancé first crossed paths as teenagers, but it wasn’t until years later that fate brought them together again. What began as a high-school romance has evolved into a lifelong partnership – and now, a wedding celebration to look forward to.
The story
We actually went to the same high school and were together on and off starting freshman year. In 2018, we stopped talking when he moved to Boise, Idaho for college, but life has a way of bringing the right people back together. After time apart, we reconnected, stronger and more sure of ourselves, and that’s when our relationship truly began to flourish.
Dropping hints
We honestly never really talked about engagement or proposals in detail, which made the moment all the more special. I had no idea when or how it would happen, so when it did, it felt like the most wonderful surprise.
The proposal
I thought we were just taking family pictures by the lake. As we walked around, I suddenly saw white roses and candles all lit up, and then both of our families appeared. It was so thoughtful and emotional – a truly unforgettable moment that felt deeply meaningful to both of us.
The ring
It’s truly the ring of my dreams: an emerald-cut diamond set in a gold bezel band. It’s so timeless and elegant, exactly what I always envisioned without ever having to say a word.
Engagement party celebrations
We celebrated at my parents’ house, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. It was intimate, full of love and laughter, and the best way to begin this exciting new chapter of our lives.
The outfit
I was wearing a simple black dress. For those who know me, that’s how you really know I had no clue – because if I knew I was getting engaged, I definitely would have worn something bright and colourful!
Wedding plans so far
We’ve already booked our venue, and we’ll be getting married in Mexico in 2027. We’re beyond excited to celebrate in such a beautiful and meaningful place, surrounded by all the people we love most.
