Finding the perfect wedding dress is one of the most personal parts of planning a wedding. In our Dress series, campaigner and writer Anna Whitehouse shares her journey to finding the one, from focused fittings to an instinctive yes.
For her wedding day, Anna Whitehouse chose a Savannah Miller gown that balanced elegance with comfort and quiet confidence. After a tightly edited selection of fittings, she trusted her instincts and selected Tania, an off the shoulder crepe design defined by sculptural draping and a dramatic train. The result was a bridal look that felt effortless, flattering and entirely her.
The Journey
I tried on a few of Savannah’s dresses before landing on Tania. My fittings took place at Rozie Bride, one of Savannah’s stockists, with Izie who owns the boutique. I was very conscious of not wanting to overwhelm myself by trying on endless styles, so I kept my appointments focused and intentional. Savannah’s designs immediately resonated with me, so it felt like a very natural place to start.

The Vision
I knew I wanted something elegant but super comfortable. Feeling at ease in my dress was really important to me. I wanted something that felt feminine and confident, but also allowed me to move freely and enjoy the day without constantly thinking about what I was wearing. I was drawn to clean lines, soft structure and fabrics that felt good against the skin, rather than anything overly heavy or restrictive.
The Decision
Choosing my wedding dress felt very calm and surprisingly easy. After trying a small edit of Savannah’s designs, I just knew as soon as I put Tania on that it was the one. It felt completely right straight away. The dress is from Savannah Miller’s bridal collection and is crafted from beautiful stretch crepe, with an off the shoulder corseted bodice and generous draping from the high hip across the body and into the skirt. The silhouette felt incredibly flattering and confident, without trying too hard.

The Style Support
I took Lola along to my appointments. I am quite decisive and I knew what I wanted, so I did not feel the need to bring lots of people with me. Having one trusted person there who knows me well was more than enough.
The Accessories
I kept my accessories very simple so the dress could really speak for itself. The pleated sleeves framed the décolletage so beautifully that I did not want to detract from that, and the deep side slit flowing into a dramatic cathedral length train gave the dress all the impact it needed.
Advice For Brides
Go with your gut and think carefully about comfort. It is a long day, with a lot of movement and dancing, so feeling comfortable really matters. If a dress feels right straight away, trust that instinct.
Favourite Photo of the Dress
My favourite photo is one where you can really see the train in motion. It captures the drape and shape of the dress perfectly and reminds me how confident and relaxed I felt wearing it.
