Inside: A Cornish Coastal Wedding Weekend

From a snowy proposal walk to a sun-drenched marquee wedding overlooking the Cornish coast, step inside Ella Perryman and Will Asbury’s effortlessly stylish wedding at Roscarrock Farm.

The Story So Far

Ella and Will first met 12 years ago at university, when they were part of a large circle of friends. One thing led to another and they have been together ever since. On a crisp, snowy December day, they set out on a long walk with their dogs. Stopping to admire the view, Will wrapped Ella in a hug and asked her to marry him. They trekked back down to the pub where friends were waiting to toast their engagement over lunch, before heading to a surprise party that same evening.

The ring was crafted by a jeweller in Devon, close to where Ella grew up. A gold bezel emerald trilogy design had always been her dream, chosen for its chic simplicity. The diamonds were sourced in Namibia, a thoughtful nod to a trip the couple had taken there together.

Venue

Both had grown up spending time in Cornwall, so there was no question of marrying anywhere else. They wanted a venue with sea views, beautiful gardens for a marquee and enough space to host 30 friends for a long weekend. As soon as they discovered Roscarrock Farm, they knew they had found the one.

The wedding stretched across four days. Friday began with a registry office ceremony for immediate family, followed by celebratory drinks in the garden and dinner at Four Boys in Rock, overlooking the sea. Guests gathered later for welcome cocktails. Saturday was the main celebration, while Sunday unfolded with a relaxed on-site barbecue. On Monday, everyone headed to the beach for a final day of surfing, swimming and sunset drinks.

Fashion

Ella wore the Palm dress by Newhite, chosen at The Fall Bride. The dress’s sleek silhouette and bright white fabric emulated water, perfectly suited to the seaside setting. The neck scarf added an elegant twist, and her friends’ delighted gasps when she stepped out of the fitting room sealed the decision.

The experience at The Fall was everything Ella had hoped for, with a contemporary, stylish edit of gowns and a warm, uplifting atmosphere. “I loved every moment,” she recalls. “Nothing about the process was stressful.”

Will wore a sixties-inspired double-breasted white suit from Tiger of Sweden, paired with an open-collar shirt and Japanese black Doc Martens. The look was relaxed, modern and influenced by musicians of the era.

Jewellery

Ella kept jewellery simple but playful. Pearl and gold hair sliders from Liberty and Missoma earrings complemented her sleek look, while her bespoke Rooper bag in butter yellow, embroidered with E & W, was a chic highlight.

Bridal Party

The bridesmaids wore yellow in varied styles from Odd Muse, Nobody’s Child and Meshki, reflecting their individual personalities. The groomsmen wore navy linen Percival suits with striped shirts. Bridesmaids were gifted bow earrings from Pilgrim and yellow linen nightdresses, while the boys received bespoke silver chain necklaces.

Transport

Guests were ferried by minibus shuttle, while Will’s vintage Land Rover Defender became the star of the weekend. With its roof down, the couple drove to the beach for photographs that captured the carefree spirit of the celebrations.

Tablescape

The marquee was transformed with a pink and yellow palette. Striped yellow ruffle napkins, taupe tapered candles, glass holders and antique bud vases created a whimsical yet classic feel. Giant paper lanterns were strung down the centre of the marquee for drama, while blush ruffle cloths, rattan bowls and Falcon enamel cups styled the outdoor bars. Guests were invited to take home their napkins as favours, a thoughtful and sustainable gesture.

Ella carried a bouquet of Icelandic poppies, her favourite flower, and they featured throughout the design in table arrangements and urns. Stationery was designed by Ella herself, incorporating bows and stripes to tie in with the bridal party. The table plan, decorated with drawings of their pets, was a particular joy for guests.

Their butter-yellow cake was made by a family friend, finished with almond and orange layers and a statement bow on top. Outside, parasols from House Doctor and fire pits set the scene for post-dinner drinks under the stars.

Food & drink

Cornish feasting was at the heart of the menu. Woodfired Weddings created a banquet of smoked mussels in clotted cream, whole chickens and mackerel, with Italian-inspired salads and salsa verde potatoes. Dessert came in the form of giant trays of tiramisu, served alongside cocktails. Later in the evening, a pizza truck ensured nobody went hungry.

Wine came from Amie, whose chic bottles were almost too pretty to open, paired with rosé, white and red that perfectly matched the mood of the day.

Entertainment

Music was woven through the celebrations. Afka, a calypso band, paid tribute to Will’s South African heritage during the drinks reception. At night, Finnish garage rock band Us brought high energy, before friends stepped behind the decks for DJ sets that lasted into the small hours. A confetti cannon at 2am brought the dance floor to a glittering finale.

Beauty and Wellness

Ella’s sister-in-law did her hair and make-up, keeping the look dewy and natural with products from Merit. Hydrafacials in the run-up to the day gave her a radiant glow.

Gifts and Honeymoon

Among their favourite gifts were hand-painted wall plates of Roscarrock by Ella’s sister-in-law, pressed wedding flowers framed for posterity, and weekends away at The Pig and Rest + Wild. Zeiss binoculars from family will be put to use on safari next year.

For their honeymoon, they flew straight to Ericeira, Portugal, for a week of surfing, reading and long lazy lunches. A Kenyan safari is planned for next year.

Advice

Pick early on what’s most important and weigh your budget there. Don’t feel pressured to go super bridal if that’s not your vibe. You want to feel like you on the day. And make wedding planning fun. Open some wine, put on music and enjoy it together.
