If you’ve ever walked into a reception and felt utterly transported, there’s a strong chance Twilight Trees was behind it. Known for their dramatic illuminated trees and sculptural installations, the Hampshire-based brand has earned a reputation for turning blank canvas venues into extraordinary settings. Whether you’re dreaming of an enchanted woodland, a glamorous city soirée or something quietly romantic, their team specialises in elevating receptions with atmosphere, elegance and just the right amount of drama. We sat down with the experts to discover how to create your own unforgettable celebration – from aisle to afterparty.
Where do you begin when styling a reception space, and how can lighting and foliage transform the mood of a room?
Every reception starts with a conversation, understanding the couple’s vision, the energy they want to create, and the architectural character of the venue itself. From there, it becomes about scale, texture, and light. Whether we’re working in a stately home or a sleek industrial space, we tailor every element to fit harmoniously.
Our Olive Collection, for example, is beautifully versatile, bringing softness and Mediterranean elegance to both contemporary and classic settings. We often centre the design around a feature like our Oak Circular Bar and use large-scale trees as sculptural focal points. It’s about surprise and spectacle, the kind of breathtaking moment that draws a collective gasp when guests first walk in.
Lighting is the soul of a space. Our LED trees don’t just glow, they radiate a warmth that instantly elevates the atmosphere. A light and airy room might call for fresh, summery tones, while richly painted interiors lend themselves to deeper, more opulent colour palettes. With the right lighting and foliage, we don’t just decorate a room – we transform it.
Twilight Trees has become synonymous with statement installations – what are some of the most memorable set-ups you’ve been asked to create?
There are some venues that will forever take your breath away. The Natural History Museum is one we never tire of, every time we install there, it’s magic. That venue has been the setting for some of our most luxurious transformations, while Kew Gardens provides the perfect interplay of natural and artificial beauty, allowing us to seamlessly blend our installations with the surroundings.
How can couples use trees or floral structures to create zones or moments within a larger reception space?
We often talk about ‘moments’ within a celebration, distinct areas that hold emotional or visual weight. Trees can serve as elegant dividers within a larger room, framing entrances or creating dramatic aisles. For vows or speeches, they form a beautiful backdrop (and the most incredible photos – think Father of the Bride mid-speech, surrounded by softly lit branches).
In venues with high ceilings, we love to draw the eye upwards, using trees to create grandeur without compromising floor space. They can even serve a practical purpose, in the centre of one of our signature circular bars or positioned near a lounge area, they guide flow and elevate the guest experience.
To complement these zones, we’ve recently introduced a curated collection of poseur tables, perfect for mingling spaces, cocktail hours or stylish lounge corners. From our elegant cream French Panelled tables to earthy Moss Green, and striking mirrored finishes in Silver and Gold, they bring height, texture and visual interest. These pieces work beautifully alongside our installations, tying together the look and feel of a reception with effortless sophistication.
What advice do you have for those looking to bring the outdoors in, particularly for winter or city weddings?
Hire our trees! Honestly, it’s that simple. We can transform a raw, industrial venue into a romantic winter forest. Think Narnia, with a canopy of Christmas trees, softly glowing with light.
We can bring virtually any tree indoors. Whether it’s lining the aisle, flanking the altar, or becoming part of your tabletop décor. For city weddings especially, our designs soften exposed brick and metalwork, creating contrast and warmth. And for exterior spaces, our LED trees bring intimacy and magic to terraces, courtyards and even smoking areas.
You work with some of the UK’s most prestigious venues – how do you approach styling each one differently while maintaining the Twilight Trees aesthetic?
Our aesthetic is consistent: polished, immersive, and beautifully detailed. But no two spaces are ever treated the same.
A venue like Kew Gardens naturally calls for a design that embraces the organic and botanical. At Hackney Town Hall, it’s about introducing warmth and texture to complement the Art Deco architecture. We balance our signature style with the essence of each location, ensuring the result always feels cohesive, and unforgettable.
Twilight Trees may be synonymous with weddings, but we also bring our expertise to large-scale immersive brand activations, retail installations, interiors, and hospitality spaces. Whatever the setting, we create experiences that stay with people long after the last light fades.
