At the heart of Ricky Paul Flowers is Ricky himself – a designer with a big imagination, a love of storytelling and an instinct for creating things people haven’t seen before.
Ricky’s route into floristry wasn’t traditional. Before launching the business 16 years ago, he worked at Harrods as a furniture buyer, alongside a background in interior and set design. Those influences are still a huge part of how he works today. He doesn’t just look at the flowers; he looks at the entire space, considering scale, structure, colour and how a design can completely transform its surroundings.
And then there’s his love of Disney, which we think explains quite a lot. That sense of imagination, theatre and escapism has always found its way into Ricky’s work.
Over the years, Ricky Paul Flowers has become particularly known for its floral sculptures and large-scale installations. It all started with Ricky’s now-famous floral poodles, which helped establish the sculptural style the brand is recognised for today. Since then, the scale has only grown – from a giant six-metre floral hot air balloon to an entire floral world created in celebration of Sir David Attenborough’s 100th birthday, bringing animals and nature together in one extraordinary installation.
These pieces capture what Ricky does best: taking an idea and turning it into something unexpected through flowers, structure and storytelling.
Today, Ricky leads his team across the UK, Europe and Asia, creating luxury weddings, events, brand activations and large-scale installations internationally.
Sixteen years on, Ricky still approaches every project with the same mentality: think bigger, create something different and keep pushing the boundaries of what floristry can be.

At what point in the wedding planning process should the flowers be considered by a couple?
Flowers should be considered from the beginning, as they help shape the overall look of your wedding. Choose your venue first so the florals complement the space, and ideally have your bridal and bridesmaids’ dresses picked too, as these can really influence the floral style and palette.
Think of your flowers as part of the complete visual story – every element should work together.

How would you describe your ‘wedding style’ at Ricky Paul Flowers?
Our wedding style is luxurious, creative and completely bespoke. We’re known for bold, sculptural designs and transforming spaces, but we’re equally at home creating beautifully refined, romantic florals with a softer touch. From understated elegance to statement and unexpected, it’s always about reflecting the couple and their setting.
What are the biggest floristry wedding trends at present?
Monofloral and monochromatic: using one variety of flower en masse or working within a single colour story for a cleaner, fashion-led look.
Calla lilies are having a real moment in wedding floristry. Their clean, sculptural shape lends itself perfectly to the more fashion-led aesthetic we’re seeing, from long-stem bridal bouquets to contemporary tablescapes and statement installations. They feel modern, elegant and effortlessly luxurious.
Meadow – style designs flowers: appearing to naturally grow from floors, aisles and even through tables rather than traditional arrangements in vases.

What would your ‘dream’ wedding look like?
My dream wedding would be a luxury winter wedding in an iconic London venue. Rich, opulent florals, deep luxurious tones and masses of candlelight creating a warm, intimate atmosphere. Elegant, dramatic and completely timeless.
What are your favourite colour schemes for weddings at the moment?
I love working with colour and letting the season influence the palette. For spring, soft blush, lilac, butter yellow and fresh greens feel beautiful. In summer, I love warmer peaches, corals, soft pinks and touches of blue. Autumn is perfect for richer tones – burgundy, plum, chocolate, burnt orange and olive – while winter is where you can really embrace opulence with deep reds, wine tones, forest green and touches of soft gold.
Equally, timeless whites, ivories and greens work beautifully in every season. For me, it’s about keeping the palette tasteful and considered, while bringing in unexpected tones to make it feel current.

What is your biggest no-no when it comes to floral arrangements?
My biggest no-no is an arrangement that doesn’t work with the space. You can have the most beautiful flowers in the world, but if the scale, colour or proportions are wrong for the venue, it won’t feel right. Every arrangement should feel considered – from the flowers and vessel to the room it sits within.
How can you make your wedding bouquet and buttonholes stand out?
For me, a bridal bouquet should feel like part of the bride’s overall look – almost like the final accessory. I love playing with proportion, movement and unexpected varieties to create something that feels effortless but considered. The dress should always lead the direction.
With buttonholes, restraint is key. A single beautiful bloom or an interesting textural detail can make far more of a statement than something overly complicated. I like there to be a subtle connection to the bridal bouquet, but never an exact match. It should feel refined, individual and quietly luxurious.

What is your favourite flower?
My favourite flowers are delphiniums and hydrangeas. I love their scale and presence – they’re bold, dramatic and unapologetic, a bit like me. They create incredible volume and impact, which makes them perfect for the large-scale weddings and events we love to create.
When it comes to logistics, how do you support couples with the set up? Any tips? We take care of the entire floral set-up from start to finish, so our couples don’t have to worry about the logistics on the day. We work closely with the venue and planner on timings, access and installation, making sure everything is in place before the first guest arrives. My biggest tip is to trust your suppliers – there’s a huge amount that happens behind the scenes, and a good team will make it all feel completely effortless.
And finally, what’s next for Ricky Paul Flowers?
For me, the next chapter is about continuing to create incredible weddings at every scale. We love the excitement and creativity that comes with a large, ambitious celebration, but an intimate wedding can be just as special when every detail is beautifully considered. We’re also growing across Europe and, with the launch of our floral business in Thailand, creating new opportunities across Asia. After 16 years, it’s about continuing to evolve, take on exciting projects and make every wedding feel completely individual.
