From a beachside proposal on the Dorset coast to a birthday-eve celebration in the New Forest, step inside Loulou and Marcus’ pastel-themed wedding at Pylewell Park.
The story so far
We met at university, and from the moment we met we both felt we’d found our person. Marcus surprised me with the most thoughtful proposal after a romantic dinner overlooking Avon Beach. During a walk along the beach, I found a huge heart made from stones and a bouquet of roses before he got down on one knee (while a photographer secretly captured the moment). My oval hidden halo engagement ring was everything I’d dreamed of. Marcus had remembered every comment I’d ever made about rings I loved and chose something that was completely me.
Venue
We married at Pylewell Park in Hampshire. Driving through the New Forest, with wild ponies and donkeys felt so magical. The sea views, gardens and house took our breath away, and we instantly knew it was the one. The evening before was also my birthday, so celebrating with everyone before waking up to our wedding day, with our close friends and family, made the whole weekend even more special.
Fashion
I found my Suzanne Neville Rossini gown at Anna Bridal during my very first appointment. It wasn’t what I’d expected, but I teared up as soon as I put it on. It felt as though it was made for our wedding. Meeting Suzanne Neville later in the process made wearing the dress even more special.
For the evening, I changed into a Khanums dress with pearl detailing. My Jimmy Choo heels worked perfectly with both looks and carried me comfortably through the entire day. Marcus wore a cream Hunter & Greys tuxedo, and my “something blue” was one of my bridesmaids, who wore a blue dress as part of our mismatched pastel palette.
Jewellery
I wore diamond stud earrings and an eternity bracelet from Al Zain, one of Bahrain’s most iconic jewellers, owned by my father’s cousin, making them especially meaningful.
Bridal party
Our bridesmaids each chose their own pastel-coloured dresses, which meant they felt confident and comfortable. I gifted them matching pyjamas, personalised tote bags, beauty treats and personalised hairbrushes they’ll continue using long after the wedding.
Tablescape
Our vision was an English country garden, brought to life by The Secret Stylists. Soft draping transformed the pavilion, while a disco ball added a modern touch to the romantic styling. Our first look at the room was one of our favourite moments of the day. Seeing months of planning come to life was incredibly special.
We included QR codes on each table for guests to upload photos, alongside a personalised photo booth guest book where they kept one strip and left us another with a message.
Food
We loved working with Bramble & Bow, who helped us put together a variety of canapes and a menu with something for everyone. We kept the drinks light and summery, including sparkling jasmine tea, which went down a treat. Instead of a plated dessert, we chose a dessert station, with the Eton mess proving the favourite. Our cake featured organic piping, fresh flowers and three flavours: carrot, chocolate, and raspberry with white chocolate.
Entertainment
Music was one of our biggest priorities. We danced our first dance to Teddy Swims’ version of You’re Still The One after lessons with All Steps, which gave us so much confidence. The Soul Cats filled the dance floor before DJ Tarz kept the party going with house, R&B and classic favourites.
Beauty regime & wellness
My makeup was by Liri’s Makeup Bag and my hair by Sabrina Duparcq. Having trials and choosing suppliers you feel comfortable giving feedback to was invaluable. I also had a Hydrafacial the week before the wedding, which gave my skin a lovely glow.
Favourite Wedding Gifts
We created a gift list through The Wedding Shop, choosing pieces we’d use for years to come. Our favourites included vases, photo frames, serving pieces and honeymoon contributions, which will always remind us of our wedding day.
Honeymoon
We spent five days at the JW Marriott in Crete for our mini-moon and are planning a trip to the Philippines next year. Taking time to relax afterwards was one of the best decisions we made.
Advice
Create a dedicated wedding email from the very beginning to keep everything organised in one place.
Invest in experiences, like dance lessons, that help you feel confident and create memories you’ll treasure long after the day is over.
Trends come and go, but your wedding should reflect who you are as a couple. Trust your instincts and create a day that feels like you.
