As The Wedding Edition’s Social Editor, Holly has spent years immersed in the world of weddings, with an eye for timeless style, beautiful details and emerging trends. Now, she’s planning one of her own.
Set in Mallorca in July 2027, preparations are well underway, with the venue, catering, photographer and videographer already secured – all with a cinematic, film-inspired feel in mind. Having been together for 12 years after meeting at school and getting engaged last year in the Philippines Holly and her fiancé are looking forward to celebrating their next chapter with the people they love most. As the first couple in their friendship group to get married, they’re embracing every moment of the journey.

The Story So Far
We’ve ticked off the big decisions, which feels amazing. The venue is secured, the catering is sorted, we’ve found our dream photographer and videographer, and the entertainment is booked.
Now we’re moving into the stage I’ve been looking forward to most – the aesthetics, the styling and, of course, finding my dress. I’ve also asked my bridesmaids, which made everything feel even more real.

What has been your biggest focus?
Creating a wedding that genuinely feels like us.
I’ve seen so many beautiful weddings through my role at The Wedding Edition, but I’ve realised it’s so easy to get swept up in trends. So we’re trying to stay true to who we are instead. We love travelling, we love being outdoors and we love the sunshine, so a destination wedding always felt like the obvious choice.
Has anything surprised you about wedding planning?
So far *touch wood* I’m really enjoying it.
I think there’s so much conversation around how stressful planning can be, but I’m trying not to put too much pressure on it. We both love hosting friends and family, so planning a weekend that brings everyone together feels genuinely exciting.

The Venue Journey
How did you find your venue?
We knew almost immediately that we didn’t want a UK wedding. We wanted somewhere warm, somewhere by the sea, somewhere people could turn into a holiday.
We’d visited Mallorca the year before and completely fell in love with the island. It has such a relaxed elegance about it. We flew back specifically to venue hunt and found the one – hidden away in the countryside, surrounded by beautiful gardens, with the most incredible atmosphere. It was an immediate ‘yes’!
Your non-negotiables?
Palm trees, beautiful gardens and a pool. They were the three things I couldn’t compromise on.

Bridal Style
Have you found your dress?
Not yet – but I know how I want to feel.
I’m drawn to understated silhouettes with a relaxed, effortless feel. Think soft satin, flowing fabrics and something that works beautifully in the Mallorca setting. As it’s going to be hot hot hot!
I tried on one dress in Barcelona that I absolutely loved, but I still have a few boutiques on my list. My next appointment is in London with my mum and sisters, so we’ll see…

The Real Moments
What’s been the most emotional part so far?
Thinking about everyone being there.
Destination weddings are a big commitment for guests, so the fact that our family and closest friends are choosing to travel across Europe to celebrate with us honestly means the world.
I also know my dad’s speech is going to completely get me too. He’s always said he’ll write me a poem, and just thinking about that makes me emotional.
The biggest challenge?
Finding the right photographer and videographer.
Content creation is such a huge part of my job, that I had a very clear vision for how I want our wedding to be documented. I wanted imagery that felt timeless and cinematic rather than overly posed.
Thankfully, I think we’ve found exactly the right team.

Advice
Don’t forget your why. It’s so easy to get caught up in details, but at the heart of it, you’re marrying your favourite person. Keep coming back to that.
Schedule ‘wedmin’ dates. Block out evenings dedicated to wedding planning – whether that’s over a glass of wine, cooking dinner together or taking your laptop to your favourite café. It makes the process feel exciting rather than overwhelming.
Tune out the noise. Everyone will have an opinion. Listen if it’s helpful, but remember it’s your day.
