Our wedding day was nothing short of perfection. Held at the iconic Savoy on November 17th, we, Lucy and Sam, envisioned a magical winter white celebration. The entire day radiated with elegance and charm, perfectly capturing the winter wonderland we dreamed of. It was truly a moment to remember for both of us. Here is the journey of the dress with Lucy Koffman.
The Journey
Finding my dream dress turned out to be easier than I expected. Before visiting Caroline Castigliano, I had been to two boutiques but didn’t find anything I truly fell in love with. However, those visits helped me discover elements of dresses that I liked. From a young age, I knew exactly what I wanted—I wanted to feel like a fairytale princess while maintaining an elegant look. Sparkle was a must, but it had to be tasteful, not tacky. When I met the team at Caroline Castigliano, I instantly knew I could get creative with my vision. I’m not someone who likes to play it safe; I love standing out and doing things differently.
The Vision
As I mentioned before, I’ve always known I wanted the most princess-like dress imaginable—a dress with a very tight waist and an enormous skirt. I envisioned a train and veil that almost reached the other side of the room, creating an incredibly dramatic effect. Some elements of the dress, like the high neck and long sleeves, were unexpected choices for me, but I’m so glad I went with them. They truly added to the beauty and elegance of the design. The dress was made completely bespoke, with additional Swarovski crystals delicately placed on the bodice and parts of the skirt, giving it that extra sparkle I had always dreamed of.
The Decision
Choosing my wedding dress was such a fun process, and I looked forward to every appointment. I think a big part of that excitement was due to how knowledgeable, kind, and friendly the team at Caroline Castigliano was. Having Caroline herself involved in the process was incredible. It was definitely a long journey, with lots of little tweaks along the way to make it absolutely perfect—but in the end, it truly was everything I had hoped for.
The Style Support
I really relied on my family’s opinions throughout the dress process. When I first started looking, my entourage included my mum, mother-in-law, two grandmothers, and my dad, whose opinion I truly value. He loved the fabric I chose! After that, I visited Caroline Castigliano many times to finalise all the key elements. My dad joined me for one of the toile fittings to help with the shape, but he didn’t see the finished dress until the wedding day. My mum and Nana came to every appointment, while my other grandmother and sister-in-law also stopped by to give their input. I loved hearing everyone’s thoughts and always took them into account.
The Evening Look
I always thought I wanted a second dress, but in the end, I’m really glad I only got one. You only get to wear it once, so I made sure to fully enjoy every moment in it.
The Accessories
My husband and I are very similar in height, so from the very beginning, I knew I wanted flat shoes. I found the perfect pair of Jimmy Choo ballet pumps. As for jewellery, I didn’t want anything distracting from my dress, so I kept it simple until I removed the high neck and sleeves. Then, I added a delicate diamond and pearl necklace to complement the dress without stealing the spotlight. For my hair accessories, I discovered a lovely company online that replicated the flower pattern from my dress, creating beautiful flowers with tiny Swarovski crystals to place in my hair. The veil was something I envisioned as dramatic and stunning in photos. Working with the team at Caroline Castigliano, we achieved this by doubling the width of the lace and making it extra long, just as I had imagined.
Advice For Brides
My advice for future brides searching for their dream dress is to take your time. The last thing you want is to rush into a decision and end up with something you’re not completely happy with. Be open to trying on different styles—you might just find something you love, like I did. I never imagined I’d wear something that covered my arms or had anything around my neck. And, most importantly, surround yourself with people you trust. Their support and opinions will make the whole experience that much more enjoyable.
Favourite Photo Of The Dress
My favourite photo from the entire day was taken on the steps of the Savoy. My husband and I were gazing at each other, and the photographer perfectly captured the drama of the veil and train trailing behind us as we stood on the stairs. It was exactly the photo I had envisioned.
