The postpartum period is often characterised by hormonal fluctuations, which can contribute to mood swings and emotional challenges. A diet rich in whole foods, including fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, provides essential vitamins and minerals that play a role in regulating hormones and stabilising mood. Omega-3 fatty acids, found in abundance in fatty fish and walnuts, are particularly known for their mood-enhancing properties. For me, postpartum isn’t just a few months after you bring a new bundle of joy into the world but I believe it to be the new woman you meet after you become a mother, whether it be physical changes or emotional changes, it is a journey of falling in love with yourself even deeper than before and that can take months, years or a lifetime and either are completely fine.

I moved to Canada with my husband 7 months before our daughter was born, no friends, no family, just us and although it had its benefits there were moments when I just needed my mum or a close friend who understood me, it truly gave me the space to reflect and appreciate the people around me.

Positive Affirmation

Start your day with positive affirmations to cultivate self-love and acceptance. Remind yourself of your strength, resilience, and the love you have to offer. Affirmations are more than just words; they are a tool for cultivating a positive and constructive inner dialogue. These empowering statements have the potential to shift our perspective, helping us overcome self-doubt, challenges, and negative thought patterns. Consistent practice of positive affirmations not only enhances self-esteem but also serves as a motivational force, guiding us towards a more optimistic and purposeful life.

Remember, postpartum recovery is a unique and personal journey. Embrace it with patience and self-compassion. By incorporating beauty treatments, spiritual practices, and self-love rituals into your routine, you’ll be better equipped to navigate the challenges of motherhood while prioritising your own well-being. Whether it’s reading a book, enjoying a warm bath, or simply sipping your favourite tea, these moments of self-indulgence are essential.
